just wondering out loud … could it be built from laminated wood from the original blueprints , instead of steel or wrought iron ???

Great question! Though it looks like wood, we know from sample analysis and microscopic imaging that these objects are wrought iron. Wood would have deteriorated on the ocean floor in these conditions. This type of corrosion is standard for wrought iron and is known as "fibrous wrought iron". Thanks for watching!
