Having reread A Confederacy of Dunces many times over the last 30 years I finally looked up this Boethius character. Found out he was real! What would he make of the book he helped inspire? BTW you have a lovely voice.

@@katherinekhan6892 I had to look up Confederacy of Dunces! So glad you looked up Boethius - definitely real. We found the OUP translation by Walsh a much easier read than earlier versions. Thanks for the kind remarks!

Thoroughly enjoyable talk and introduction to Boethius. I knew him by name, but little else, before watching this. Now adding him to my ever-growing "to read" list! Thank you 🙏🏻

Good News! i discovered that the brain/body is capable of setting itself Totally Free of fear, anxiety, sorrow, despair, loneliness, shame, guilt, confusion, contradictions, addictions, irritations, triggers, vanity, envy, greed, jealousy, attachment, possessiveness, ill-will, hatred, cruelty, bias, prejudice, and all other mental/emotional disturbances, in each and every moment of daily life, 24/7.

This gives birth to True Love, Peace, Happiness, Creativity, & Clarity, for the very first time. Not the love, peace, happiness, that the I, the me, the self, the thinker, the mind, imagines it to be, which is a limitation, imitation, and distortion. For the very first time, Soul is happening, Spirit is happening, Heart is happening. It is not temporary. It is happening in each & every moment of daily life, 24/7. It does not take time. It has nothing whatsoever to do with time, effort, or choice. It occurs faster than the speed of light. The children are ready to be set Totally Free at the earliest age so they don't waste their whole life with any mental/emotional disturbances.

Thanks for posting this. Decades ago, when I had to undergo surgery, I took the 'Consolation' with me to the hospital. I had read it before in college, but this time it spoke directly to my condition. // Which translation are you quoting in this video? I'm not familiar with it and I like the way the translator use rhyme.

Thanks Xenocrates for your comment. Yes it really can be a Consolation to read. This was using the Oxford World's Classics publication in paperback, with P G Walsh's translation, first published in 2000, reissued 2008. We found it a great improvement on an earlier version, especially with the verse passages.
