Bernie Samuelson is a ceramic arts teacher at a children's summer camp. From the very first day, he notices that young Aaron Gold has a real talent for sculpture.
"The Contest For Aaron Gold" Dir by Norman Lloyd
Aaron Gold stays at a summer camp and is being taught ceramics by Bernie Samuelson. Aaron makes a clay figure of a knight for Bernie class. The figure, however, lacks a right arm. Bernie encourages the boy to finish up before his parent's visit. Aaron brushes off the encouragement and leaves the figure without an arm. Later, the camp director worrying how the camp would look if Aaron appeared to learn nothing in his stay orders Bernie to finish the figure himself. He does so and greatly upsets Aaron. When Aaron's father arrives on parents day, Bernie is shocked to discover that he is missing his right arm.

In Aaron's eyes, his father is a dragon slayer. Beautiful.

I remember this story. It touched me back then in so many ways. Biggest lesson was to never assume you know what's going on in someone else's head.

@@michaelwertzy9808 I totally agree! The poster, unreasonably, gives EVERYTHING away in the description, where a general incomplete synopsis is usually given, if anything, not the entire story in a nutshell. Not good, or typical, and I won't be reading anymore descriptions on this channel, lol.

Alfred Hitchcock made short stories on his tv show "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" which featured 20 min segments including commercials. So altogether, some w/o commercials would be 15 min long lol

That's the way people are they have their own views and opinions about what's right or appealing or what makes sense to them only giving no thought to others or their feelings or views and if it doesn't seem right or appropriate to them and the other person doesn't agree or have the same view Oh there's something wrong with him or her or them, that child knew exactly what he wanted and what he was doing when he made that sculpture but the supervisor applied his understanding to it therefore labeling it inferior when in all actuality it wasn't but rather a beautiful touching tribute to his dad, good lesson of how people should stop imposing and forcing their thoughts and views on others and try to talk understand and respect the opinion views and feelings of others, understanding is the best thing in the world next to love of course.
