are captive ones toxic or can they be handled?
@wpsreptiles2 жыл бұрын
@@Aaron-zu3xn hey Aaron! So typically frogs shouldn't be handled too much as they're sensitive and absorb water through their skin (as well as germs, bacteria, etc) but captive ones aren't toxic to us. The toxicity comes from food sources in the wild and captive frogs eat fruit flies and small prey items which are non toxic

@@TroyGoldberg Hey Troy, -I am interested in getting some dart frogs that look like cows (black & white). Do you know which Dendrobates tinctorious would fit this the most? I don't remember if I asked you this on your channel or not.- edit: I would also like two frogs, however, I don't want tadpoles. Will two females work together if they're the same size? Or do I need a male and female together and just not put a water bowl? Also, just got to 12:18. Those are pretty much what I am looking for. What are their names? Your room is literally what I dream of having. I love it.

Phyllobates terribilis is shown in this video. The whitish to cream ones. Only toxic when they eat insects that have eaten toxic plant alkaloids or that eat other insects that have. Almost no chance of toxicity if captive bred, (unless I suppose you source the particular insects and poisonous plants concerned, or the animals are actually undisclosed recently wild caught) Having said that all amphibians might contain parasites that might make anyone stupid enough to lick them sick or even dead if they contract campylobacter etc. Very unpleasant disease that I only just recovered from. Newts can be toxic too. Fire bellies/taricha etc. One idiot died putting a California newt in his mouth and/or swallowing it.

@@rickh3714 i only asked cause even: Monitor lizards have "a slight errate" saliva similar to the modified Komodo dragons. im interested in the gila monsters and Borneo Legless Lizards as cause they both have the strongest big force of any lizard per squared in on the planet. yes the Alligator/Croc/Anaconda are the heaviest of all reptiles with their on biteforce,they are not as strong as the one i mentioned early "Per Square inch."
