Are you kidding me? Most of the songs on this double album are as bland as a grey sky.. If you listen closely you can hear the cure in this song though. I heard Faceless Angel and thought WOW. this is going to be a killer double album and then I heard the rest of the songs and was very disappointed

Glad I found this. It would be great if there's eventually an acoustic Coral Island cd. Love the songs so much and it would work well like Butterfly House

It's not good at all, it's more of a b - side if you ask me.. It doesn't offer anything and is nowhere near as good as their earlier stuff.. They're gone way down hill with years since the others left the band.

Superb song lads. Reminds of an Australian singer called Paul Kelly for some reason.

Does the singer always look that emotionally detached when performing? This is not a troll post by the way.

Poor old James seems to be off vocally today but he's usually on form.

Is this a rip off of Boy's Don't Cry by the Cure lol. If you want to hear a decent album from The Coral then go back to their first 5 to 6 albums as this album is bland, dull and grey.. You'll get more killer hooks with melody on the earlier albums that you won't get on this double album. Not liking this double album at all accept for a few nice songs but the nice songs are still bland.

@Alaska Music I think I wore out the first album as I played it too much so I never really go back to it. But I love Magic and Medicine, Invisible Invasion, Roots and Echo's, The Butterfly House, and The Curse of Love.. Also, Night Freaks and the Sons of Becker has some brilliant tunes on it a real freaky record which is basically 3 ep's with b - sides. There b -sides are amazing too but you are like me in that you are not mad about the last 3 albums. It's like with the last 3 albums I feel like I'm hearing the theme songs of my fav 70's TV programs lol.. I'm getting Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys. WKRP in Cincinnati and shows like Love Boat, The Rockford Files, and Colombo. The Coral basically loves to take sounds from theme songs from films, tv. series and adverts from the '70s and 80'[s.. It's so obvious in their songs and then they mix with folk music and rock.. It's evident that some albums are dark house horror themed and others 60's Beatles, Kinks, and Abba layered sounding wise. You can almost hear Huckleberry Finn in their music, along with old gypsy folk vampire music from the Hammer House production films. I think you are right because The Coral are seriously missing Lee and Bill who were both geniuses on their guitars and on this latest album the hooks and melodies that normally pull me in are not there. I heard Faceless Angel and I said to myself, "WOW, this song is amazing, can't wait to hear the album." Then I heard the album and realized that there's nothing close to Faceless Angel quality-wise but as you said, a few nice songs but so many album fillers. It's a case of too many chefs spoil the broth on this album and too many songs that didn't need to be on the album, rather, they should have been b-sdies.

@Alaska Music For me the Coral haven't written one bad song but some of them are just nice if that makes sense. It doesn't have to be dark for me as I also go for a good hook and melody and that is what is lacking from this latest album. I thought the ~Butterfly House album was amazing but I wasn't made about that new wave 70's sound which seemed to drown out the songs a bit. I think some of the singles they've released were nowhere single-worthy.. I thought 1000 years single was ok but never worthy of a single release along with Put the Sun Back and Two Faces.. The problem with The Coral albums is that they have too many singles on their albums which turns out to be a waste. Then their b -sides are often better than their singles. They sound so 60's and 70s that when people hear them on the radio they just think it's some band from time past like when the Beatles and the Rolling Stones were about. They never really truly progressed with their style of music but as a band, I think their music is far superior to the likes of Oasis and Blur.. You should try to give Mansun and The Open a go too as they were both stunning bands with brilliant albums. Your right about James, he's pushing 40 now but they were never whores for fame and always let the music do the talking.. Oasis and Blur were masters at using the media so they'd stay in the papers regularly to make sure they stayed relative in the public eye. Anyway, The Coral have so many different styles from the 60's and 70's that you can go back anytime and listen to them when you feel likeit. I loved the Sons of Becker album because the songs are so much like they're from a 70's hammer horror classic time period. All those songs are taken from horror b - movies from that time period and I love songs like Precious Eye's, Sorrow of the Song, Song of the Corn which could have come from the films Children of the Corn or The Wickerman. Lovers Paradise, Venom Cable, Aunties Operations Grey Harpoon and Keep Me Company.. Great little gems there if you'd only listen to them when in the right mood. Another gem is "The Curse of Love Album." Some amazing songs on here and some of their best work if you ask me. Each to his own I guess.

@Alaska Music Has the lead singer gone bald or what? Them hat's are stuck to his head for years now.

The Coral had much better hooks and melodies than Oasis but they weren't popular like Oasis who worked hard to stay in the papers every day to stay relevant in the public eye. I had a few Oasis albums and got bored of them very quickly but The Coral albums just blew me away and they won me over so fast because of their quality. I still think The Coral is the best English band since The Beatles but because their music isn't relevant for the charts they don't sell much anymore. The Coral are the type of band that would have been huge in the '60s and '70s but today they're just seen as a brand that's highly respected by the bands that made it big. The Coral have something like 6 top 10 albums which is amazing for a band like them who don't prostitute themselves out to the media to sell records. Bands like The Coral and Mansun did make and they did quite decent in the charts too but they never made it huge like Oasis. Oasis for some reason had more appeal when they often looked like the odd ones out that would never make it.. Let's face it the only one that looked like a star was Liam and the rest looked like they came straight from the unemployment office. We'll have to agree to disagree friend.

@Alaska Music Lee was brilliant too, and more gifted on guitar than bill if you ask me. If you look at it, there's only 4 members of the original 6 left now plus the stand in guitarist. They're going a long time though and could easily have split up by now so we are fortunate that they're still putting out stuff at all. Most bands don't last this long.
