According to me, The last element must be emotion - or rasa / bhava / feel invoked by the Ragam. Since when we remove Pa from Mayamalavagowla, the remaining notes give a pathos feeling of lalitha. But in the case of Kalyani and Thodi the feel remained the same after removing Panchamam. So the bhava or mood of the ragam must be the last element. ☺🙏

Generally. The term 'Pidi' or 'Sangathi' is used for denoting a phrase of a ragam, Pidi is more widely used.
