I have close to a billion clips from last week, and I wanted all this video to match. That is why it is only a 10:33 video. Once I get completely moved into the new house and get all the rooms cleaned up, I will be able to pump out two high quality farming videos a week. Thank you for being patient with me.
We have been getting a healthy amount of rain in Central Iowa. We just get started going good for a day in the field, then rains come and take us out of the field for three days. This video was taken when we were out of the field due to being rained out. In this video I primarily fill the hopper bottom bin and show all the fun activities that come with it. We fill the hopper bottom bin with corn to allow the trucker to easily pull under and auger and fill himself. This way we do not have to be around to babysit the grain set-up.
The hopper bottom was almost empty so I had several things I needed to do. The first thing I did was suck water out of the grain pits with the sump pump. I thought seed beans were going to be delivered to us, so I ended up pulling the Massey Ferguson 4880 out of the big machine shed to make room. Turns out, they ended up changing their mind and did not come.
The Oliver 1950 needed to have the hydraulic oil, engine oil, and coolant levels checked. I also need to fill it with diesel fuel. I had to unhook the seed tender before I could bring diesel to the Oliver. The back box on the seed tender was full and the front one was empty. I was concerned the seed tender might flip over if I unhooked it so I anchored the front end down with the skid loader. I got unhooked with no issues.
Conveniently I parked the 4880 right in the way to get to the Oliver. I had to move the 4880 and then I started filling the Oliver with diesel fuel. The only issue I had with this was that the diesel barrel was empty. I then ran everything back out and filled the tank with diesel and got the tractor fired up and ready to go.
Once the Oliver was full of diesel, I went back to sucking out pits with the sump pump. I thought I overheated the sump pump, but it turns out I just had it unplugged. Daddy Cornstar makes fun of me for that. Once the final grain pit was cleared, we were able to start moving corn. We started by filling the grain cart initially just in case there was a little dampness in the bottom of a pit. We do not want dampness getting into the hopper bottom. While I was getting lunch, Dad filled the grain cart.
After lunch we looked at some ground to see if it were dry enough to plant in, and it was. Dad took off to plant while I monitored the augers. I cleaned up junk in the bin site in the mean time. Ronnie showed up one more time that night and then I finally got the bin full and got some much needed sleep.
Cole The Cornstar, aka Cole, is a 4th generation family farmer from Central Iowa. Cole promotes agriculture by filming his day-to-day adventures with his Dad and brother on the farm. His vision is to teach people what goes on during day to day farm operations. Cole's mission is to prove the American Dream is not dead and be a megaphone for agricultural education and innovation, from technological advances in farming equipment to conservation practices.

Anna looks like a dog that would enjoy life in a nice warm house. But, she out there everyday with you, working. Seeing her sleeping in where ever she finds a spot, just so she can be with you shows you how much she loves her humans. Does she live with you or with your parents? I always look forward to seeing her.

@@ColeTheCornstar Hi Cole, the thing is your Dad could start his own KZbin channel if he could figure out how to upload to KZbin and then you would be banjacksed as they say in my part of the world so my advice to you is to keep your Dad onside and let him do the funny stuff and you will be on the pigs back as they say in my part of the world! Cole: To keep two electrical extension cords connected, tie a square knot (right over left, then left over right) in them before you plug them together. The knot will keep the cords connected, but is also easy to remove. Also, noticed your electrical connections in water, Yikes! Be careful.

Is there a reason you wouldn't put a concrete pads around your silos for the augers to be placed on? E.g you could have permanent water drainage, no soil, then just brush the spillage off the pad? Or does that limit the Augers in some way?

You make my day laughing with you two. That still shot of daddy corn star made him look like a real nutter just like me, he’s great, made me laugh when he said...and he went to college , funny 😜 There must be a way to solve the pit thing, what occurred to me was could cutting that 50 gallon drum in half and make a couple of trays on little legs stop it rolling, stick the auger in it under the fill shute from the corn hopper,,, just a suggestion maybe not a good one ? But you seem to be spilling a lot. 16 rooms in your house plus the basement... my house has two bedrooms and its considered a nice house,,, my stepson would appreciate your house he has 6 kids ... five he inherited and a baby boy... he also has a 5yr old from a previous relationship and as everyone will gather he’s SKINT trying to keep them fed and clothed I told him to let them go naked but I don’t think that would sit well on the bus and school... save on washing though. 😜 Okay everyone best wishes mind how you go. Btw how can anyone give thumbs down 👎 on the video??? If they don’t like it they don’t need to watch it and can go flush themselves down the toilet along with the rest of the usual content. Poltroons. Rubedo 😜 UgZ

R u b e d o Thank you. As for the actual corn waste, it's probably only a bushel or two that gets wasted on that pit. The auger extension will really help.
