You seem to think that the nutritional contents of different foods cannot be measured. Yes they can, and rather easily. Meat invariably comes out miles ahead of plants when it comes to nutrient density. That is, after taking into account not only total content of nutrients, but also the absorbability of those nutrients. Nutrients in plants have a very low rate of absorbability. Meat is digested much more completely. It's the fiber and anti-nutrients in plants that are the main problem. They interfere a lot with absorption. Meat wins, as long as it is properly produced. @@niken538 this is the problem with a lot of vegans and im not saying this in some condescending way because i was guilty of it too.... but this generalization of what Joe is about and why he is pro animal eating isnt going to get us anywhere. i understand his perspective when it comes to this stuff. there is a legitimate war on masculinity that is in fact being pushed by the government for insidious purposes. they believe soy and these mock meats are a push to make men unhealthy and weak. you have to understand their viewpoint so that you can counter it better instead of just saying unintelligible things like "they have a carnivore agenda". if i were to talk to these people, id come to them with these facts: 1. soy is not feminizing. it has been used in asian and middle eastern cultures in place of animals when there were not enough animals left to eat. 2. mock meat, cheese, mock eggs and milk are NOT staples of the plant based diet 3. all people can live and thrive on a vegan diet simply by understanding nutrition and embracing different cultural foods. conversation stands out to people better when they have a mutual understanding of each others concerns. Joe had one vegan guy on and the reason why he "mysteriously forgot" that conversation was because he was ego hurt.

@@Andrew-rv9qr "Have you even looked at the cholesterol "science"? Yes, as a university researcher and professor, I have spent years studying why people are confused about this. Normal levels are healthy, but normal LDL levels are 35-70. It is the weak studies that create the illusion that elevated LDL is no problem and the stronger/experimental studies that reveal elevated LDL is causal in heart disease. There is a straight-line relationship--the higher the LDL, the more plaque forms and the more CVD events there are. "But we don't blame all the modern food and seed oils for this modern decease! How stupid does it get? " It is ALL unhealthy--too much saturated animal fat, too much dietary cholesterol, too many refined carbs, too much added sugars, too much oils... all of it promotes heart disease. Take care.

Really, your rebuttal was just as bad. Two extremes, the truth always lands somewhere in the middle. Don’t roll your eyes as if the contradicting evidence you supply is to be taken as absolute truth. There is just as compelling studies and “evidence” on both sides. You think your solutions are so black and white but with anything at a global scale veganism will have just as much health and environmental issues. Balance is needed. This whole carnivore movement though I don’t totally agree with is interesting and brings in a different perspective. Example; there is many long term studies and evidence against meat consumption and mortality. However theres never been full studies in more isolation. All these studies are generalized so meat consumption is pretty much correlated with the standard western diet. People who are eating meat are also eating a lot of processed foods. High processed carbohydrates, cheeses, sauces, sugars, artificial ingredients. Now ppl who move from this diet to a plant base diet see major health benefits . Wow, what a surprise. However, we are starting to see the same anecdotal evidence from people who moved from a standard diet to strictly meat. It’s so exhausting watching intellectual educated ppl constantly butting heads because their research meets their agenda rather than focus on the aspects they both agree on. Veganism or carnivore, one might be the superior diet (doubt it) but something tells me we won’t know for a long time if ever. Why not focus all this energy down the middle in educating ppl, getting them off all this processed crap and sugars.

You seem pretty concerned about species going extinct from modern day farming techniques. You brought up the methane that cows supposedly put into the atmosphere. This is very interesting because there was a time when the earth was teeming with megafauna that would have unleashed way more methane into the atmosphere. Would you say extinction is a good thing when it’s animals that produce a lot of methane that are going extinct, or is extinction just bad. Should cows go extinct?
