Honestly the ONLY thing I actively disliked in season 1 was the fact that they ended it on a Joker tease. I'm fine with him showing up next season, but I feel like teasing his appearance sort of sets him up as more "important" than the other villains we've seen so far. I think it would be cool if Joker was just a one-and-done like the others.

Caped Crusader obviously isn't as amazing as BTAS, but I feel like it's still a pretty solid show. I like what they did with characters like Harley Quinn, Selina Kyle and Harvey Dent, and I think it's got a really good depiction of Batman and Bruce Wayne, with how he handles his double life and the consequences of not being able to create boundaries between them (e.g. Harvey spiralling partly because Bruce tried to interrogate him during his recovery). I also love the theme of corruption present in the show, the fact that it seems to be absolutely everywhere in Gotham and constantly spreading like a plague. I really enjoyed the show, and I'm keeping hope for season 2 to improve on any of the show's potential faults.

@@kharijordan6426 Main fault for me is that some of the villains could be kinda forgettable. I completely forgot about Firebug after watching and Penguin was less interesting of a villain than I had anticipated. Also admittedly, while I like the artstyle, the animation isn't the best at times. I noticed a few errors here and there which got a bit distracting (can't name any off the top of my head but I know they're there). Although, I think those are very minor grievances when taking the whole show into account, because I'd say just about everything else about the show is great! (Saying just about in case there's something currently slipping my mind that comes back to me later).

Well, BTAS has several seasons of good will to look back on for comparison. Give TCC another season or two to do things like bring expand on Penguin, bring back Harley Quinn and/or continue to evolve batman into a 1940's version of BTAS in compassion in this hard-boiled noir world.

I like how different they made things. The last scene with the revolver had my heart racing. Overall cool concept, but I don't think it has the same hookability BTAS does. The characters aren't all that interesting unfortunately. One big thing for me is that this show had constant animation errors. Wrong perspectives, wrong scaling, skipped frames, so on. I know BTAS had it's fair share of faulty animation, but come on. We're digital now.

I don't like it because it's too similar to BTAS while occasionally changing some weird, trivial thing just enough to feel jarring but not interesting. The major exception to this IS what they did with Harley, & they should've leaned into that more. I also don't get going through so many steps to omit Joker & make Harley to be Batman's foil only to have that end stinger of "We're going full BTAS Joker because of course we are." Basically, they should've chosen to EITHER make something new or do more BTAS, not this weird half-assed fence-sitting.

While I wouldn't say this series was amazing or did anything too groundbreaking with he character of Batman, I still had a good time with it and enjoyed all the new interpretations of classic Batman villains and some characters, as it's not trying to be BTAS but still honours the legacy of the show. I liked this shows take on Clayface, Harley Quinn, Onomatopoeia, Two Face, Gentleman Ghost, Nocturna etc... I do think Hamish Linklater does a pretty solid job as this new take on Batman and while he's not trying to be Kevin Conroy, he's doing his own thing with he character and I can respect that and admire his performance. I do wish the show better utilised the 1940's era/Golden Age tone more and I do wish the animation was a bit better but despite that I can see a lot of potential with this show and all the new takes on classic characters we're familiar with and to see this Batman grow as a character. I'm interested to see this show's take on Joker and other characters

I was always intrigued but cautiously optimistic about the show. The trailers never really blew me away and I haven't really been a fan of Bruce Timm's recent work so I was a bit trepidatious about watching it. After having seen the whole show, sadly I did not think it was particularly worth the the wait. I didn't think the show was bad at all, but sadly the way I would describe it is as disappointingly average. The pacing I thought was extremely inconsistent and at times didn't even feel like a Batman show and instead felt more like Gotham Central. Batman as a character I didn't find nearly as compelling in any of the previous Batman anime that shows and while I thought Hamish Linklater's Bruce Wayne voice was really great, his Batman voice I thought it was extremely stiff and at times felt like a parody. Most of the conflicts with the villains always felt like they came to a very rushed anti-climactic conclusion that never left me wanting for more. The runtime of a lot of the episodes also felt unnecessarily short and with it being on a streaming service it was unnecessary. Also one thing I was worried about from the trailers was the animation seemed a bit underwhelming and having seen the show in its entirety I still feel completely this way. The animation is consistently pretty lacklustre. Characters stay completely frozen, the frame rate is extremely inconsistent (and not in an artistic way) , the CG cars can be distractingly rendered most of the time and just generally the characters seem to lack a sense of fluidity whenever they move. The background paintings of Caped Crusader however are really great though. The character I was most looking forward to seeing in the show and one I thought Caped Crusader handled far better than BTAS is Catwoman. BTAS I always felt had a very disappointing Catwoman and focused too much on her being an animal activist than the classic cat burglar aspect of the character and I always disliked that in BTAS she didn't regard Bruce Wayne and was only interested in Batman because in the comics Catwoman was always attracted to both Bruce and Batman, which thankfully they did in Caped Crusader. Although I still think by far the best animated Catwoman is the one voiced by Gina Gershon in The Batman 2004.

I think there are good things in this show, but there’s loads of missteps. When they show C grade villains they’re utilised pretty well, yet the more famous ones fall short. Having Harvey be openly corrupt before he becomes two-face seems a bit backwards and making the Penguin a woman is too distracting because he’s far too iconic and it sort of contradicts the whole point of the character. Clayface and Harley Quinn were reimagined pretty well though. It just felt like these flaws and several others kept piling up.

I mostly have a hard time seeing what is a compromise and what isn't... I guess what Batman is doing is more of a cope than anything else.

One detail I appreciated about this season’s murky morality is the attitude towards Batman’s allies using lethal force: they shoot numerous bad guys dead throughout the show, and Bats never raises a fuss about it, even if he doesn’t indulge himself. I think Barbara has killed at least five guys by the season finale, and she’s not even a cop! She’s a public defender who just accepts that she routinely needs to ventilate hitmen in order to do her job and not die!

I dont know but all the stories just felt generic. This needed way more episodes to feel fulfilling. Also somehow the limitations of btas actually made the darker elements better than this one. This seems tame. Another thing to, the batman voice just sounds like he is trying way to hard. And the other actors are clearly doing impressions of the btas actors. I know a lot of them are no longer with us, but a lot of them are still working, so why not bring them back. Felt forgettable to me.

I found the show extremely boring and disappointing. Like the mysteries were somehow more predictable and quick to resolve than the old show, without the dynamism and charisma of said old show. Bland, predictable... And the characters are seriously stupid. From Catwoman not being imprisoned right away despite being massively incompetent, to Barbara hitting a bulletproof glass for 5 minutes instead of pushing some buttons... Penguin was building up to something interesting, that shot under the boat was great, and then it just.. "eh imma shoot this precinct and I guess Im gone from the story". And Onomatopoeia's appearance with little to no introduction.. if you dont know the character beforehand you are bound to go 'wtf', and even then I was baffled.

This show's looked extremely dated even compared to the original animated series. The choice of changing the ethnicity of many characters as well also didn't make sense at all. Heck I am black and the choice felt strange to me as well. And lets not mention JJ Abrams who is well documented for turning shows into garbage *cough *cough....Star-Wars...*cough. Even so the plot itself was just all over the place. A show called Batman having him appear in very short scenes. The so called mysteries in the show had no depth in them heck I could see the answers from a mile away. Harvey Dent being corrupt even before turning to Two-Face also made no sense as the whole reason two face is interesting as a character is his duality. Lets not even mention Harley Quinn who already has a clown like image without meeting the Joker. Why just why.....Also as an African myself I need to ask what is this obsession with the west to point out White guys as evil people in almost every media these days? I am really curious. Oh and before I forget, Batman is a straight up psychopath in this series. The main reason why Batman is Batman is the promise he made and the need to make sure no one goes through what he went through this show just throws that out the window. Finally female Penguin and fat Alfred (Keep in mind that Alfred is supposed to be a military vet who was selected by Thomas for his skills as well). This depiction just shows that Alfred is busy eating the Wayne fortune. Dude cant put down the caviar pretzels BRUUUUHHH😒😒😒

About fat Alfred, that design is accurate for his first appearance in comics. He was meant to contrast against Batman and Robin as an amateur detective fan. The military background was added to his character way later and the reason he's depicted as skinny nowadays is because he was played by William Austin in a Batman serial and that look was incorporated back into the comics. Casually Comics did a whole video on Afred's original appearance.
