I’m new to your channel and I’m new to investigating Ecuador as a retirement destination. That penthouse looked marvelous to me, maybe because I’m outdated as well lol. I think me and the wife would have jumped on it. We have 4 more years before we retire at 62 and now Ecuador is most definitely on the list. I was stuck on Asia but now I see it’s other options.

I'm glad you found our channel as well. Welcome💐. Happy to have you here. Yes, Ecuador is an underrated destination in Latin America, we love it here. But it's certainly not for everyone.It all depends on you and your wife's needs. For example, the high altitude and weather in Cuenca doesn't agree with everyone. I'd definitely recommend an exploratory trip first, to see if it's the right fit for you before retirement. Let me know if you want to chat some more about it.

Near where I live. For $750 good value. Huge terrace. The bathrooms and kitchen are a bit dated but the price is pretty good. It’s thirty minute walk to El Cento. You should try out Good Affinity restaurant near the Gran Colombia Tranvia stop at Gran Colombia and Capulies.

From my observation, some property owners are willing to negotiate prices, not always tho. We were able to negotiate and get $50 off our rent because we don't have any pets or children. I think those are usually good bargaining chips. Hope this helps

There are vegan places and vegan options in higher end restaurants. Beans, corn and rice are staples in their diets. Gorgeous local produce is cheap and abundant.

Yes, i think being vegan here is relatively easy. There's an abundance of fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds available at the markets here. Until recently, I was living in a 4 bedroom, 5 bedroom unattached house with 2000 square meters of garden space for $700 a month in the Tumbaco valley (suburbs of Quito.)

And it was a modern minimalist home with floor to ceiling windows, and beautiful finish. The master bedroom was as big as your living area, and it had a walk-in closet.

I see where you're coming from. The real estate market here is unregulated so property owners, set whatever price they want. From my observation though, you can also find a huge house here within that $700 range, a little bit outside the center of the Cuenca. We've seen some so far. I think the price for the penthouse is because of the views it offers and the location. Appreciate your contribution. 🙏🏾
