@@55kompressor The factory recommends oil changes every 10,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first, and this isn't unusual for any car; so that accounts for the 10 oil services. The factory further recommends replacing the brake fluid every other year, which is reasonable, considering DOT4 is hygroscopic. The price tags reflect dealer servicing prices, and aren't out of line; in fact, it's lower than what the dealers here in Silicon Valley charge. Sure, you can DIY it for significantly less, or bring your car to an independent, but the actual services themselves are normal, and actually include a fairly long list of inspection items if one were to do a proper factory job. However, I am similarly baffled at the number of power steering fluid changes. Unlike the motor oil and brake fluid changes, this is not part of the scheduled maintenance, other than to inspect for correct level; in fact, the service booklet do not list a service life limit for power steering fluid.

I bought it with alot if miles which probably meant prior owner spent tons maintaining it. As long as your on top of it right away when something goes wrong and you dont let it pile up, youll be fine. You cant buy these cars thinking your buying it for 15-25k so they cost the same as a 15-25k to maintain. It still has the costs of a 80k car to maintain no matter how old it gets and you have to factor that in. If you know what to look for before buying a e55 you can avoid most of the headaches right off the bat. Just like any car if it was a abused and not well maintained its gonna cost the next owner.

The one that gets me, having already done it myself, is the supercharger belt replacement. The belt itself costs around $25, and it can literally be changed out in less than 2 minutes by nearly anyone with nothing but a single wrench. Dealership cost? $184.80. They literally charged the guy $160 to do a job that would take an experienced tech around a minute to complete. It would take longer to pull the car into the garage than actually complete the repair. LOL! There is a reason I never go to the dealership.

I once heard MB charges higher hourly rates for AMG vehicles. So they quote the owner of that car an estimate based on what ASRA lists how much time a given job would take. Can someone tell me how to and what it will cost to change and replace the adjuster solenoids for a E50 AMG from 1996 with an M119 engine?

Actually, having any luxury cars serviced by dealer or even at independent shop is not cheap, especially the AMGs. My 18+ year-old C32 had cost me well over $10K with 1st 5 years serviced and repaired at local dealers and next 13 years at one local independent shop. If I were to add on all repair cost covered under warranty, it would have exceeded $20K. But the bright side of it is that I had $100K Miles fun, it is my daily commute car from day one and it has taken me to 15+ national parks. During those years, my wife spent less than half maintenance/repair cost on her Lexus at the dealers that is the same age as my AMG but driven twice more miles. But I think I had at least twice more fun in my AMG. I only wish I can DIY on my AMG.

The brake fluid was replaced almost every year on this car. That's a rip off. This Mercedes dealer took sooo much advantage of the previous owner of the car.

Honestly roughly 2 grand a year for a German super sedan really isn’t that bad Whenever I get one I’ll still do all the maintenance myself, but I genuinely did expect worse
