He is depicting the wrong picture of the MRO sector in India. AIESL earlier a subsidiary (engineering wing) of Air India and still a govt of India undertaking has excellent complete engine overhaul facilities in Delhi, Mumbai and in Mihan Nagpur that include test beds also. It has major maintenance bases with hangars at Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kolkata and has all kinds of technical expertise in handling aircraft such as A320 family, 777,787, 737 and ATRs. It is only lagging behind at the front of management which are mostly filled with retirees/contractuals and have no vision to take advantage of the current boom in Indian aviation sector.

People who opened this MRO in Nagpur should reflect on their poor site selection. Midday temperatures in the shade, in April May June July August routinely reaches 40-45°C. Concrete both absorbs heat and reflects heat. That metal shed absorbs heat and retains heat. That aluminum fuselage absorbs heat and retains heat. And I don't see any active or passive cooling measures anywhere. Which means those sheds get hot, and stay hot, like a tin can on a hot plate. Unbelievably draining if anyone has to work 8 hour shifts ( or even 6 hr shifts for that matter ). Can you imagine the physiological and mental stress when units run full to capacity ? Able bodied men will be dropping like flies from heat exhaustion. It's all very well to put out such fluff pieces in an effort to upsell this sort of industrial services activity to potential clients and job seekers alike, but the core processes need to be better thought out wrt the people who are actually providing the services.

@ashutosht10

The overall temperatures and heat is the same throughout the country, with this approach no industry or facility will work in India. In this case clear and warm climate is favorable for Aircrafts and aircraft maintenance.

I belong to this industry, He's wrong in salary part here in India people are getting starting salary between 15,000-20,000rs per month approx $250/month goes upto $1000-1500$/ month if you're senior/highly experienced or engineer. Here in India The cost of this maintenance labour is not $35/ hr & it's a 💯% lie 😂 Some company will tell you to work for free with no salary for few months like 3-6months...this is the condition. People are getting between $1-2/hr to 6-7$/hr depends on your designation... Trainee, Jr tech, Technician, Senior tech, Engineer etc. But At the end these companies are making millions/ billions dollars of profit by making MROs.
@WorkSmarter__

it has to be much cheaper, not just 20-25% because foreign specialists workers paid way more than these mechanics in India. 35$ per man hour looks expensive

The guy explaining the MRO business seems to be a veteran Must have spent his lifetime doing it But he seems to discourage investment here. It's important to address the inaccuracy when he mentions $35 for labour and thrust reverser, as this could mislead potential investors. Freshers and technicians in India are exploited and victimised. He needs to be reminded.

If you were ready to give me 35$ an hour, then I would have worked in India. Bro, the non-certifying aircraft mechanics working in these airplanes are underpaid, they earns a gross salary of 25000 to 30000 Indian rupees a month that comes around 302USD to 362USD a month and after tax deductions, you can imagine how much they can have as take home salary. The certifying employees are getting good payments that would come around to a gross salary range between 150,000 Indian rupees(1810 USD) to 200,000 Indian rupees(2412 USD), take home salary is after the tax deductions.

Airbus is certainly interested in opening a new line somewhere in the world to take better advantage of Boeing's incompetence and their inability to deliver quality. But the problem is that the component supply chain has such a big demand shortfall that Airbus needs 5 years to reach their target production rate at their existing sites. With such a situation their hands are a bit tied with regards to a new FAL, due to supply constraints on engines, aircraft interior etc. However I hope that Airbus will announce plans for a FAL in India at least 3 years from now.

@anirbanbhattacharya2724

@@manikyum yeah my question looks funny but now I should say , to be clear to you and others , why I asked that ! That person is mentioning himself and other suitably qualified engineers ( who are the backbone of aviation) as mere mechanics ! Yes , there is the US they are called like that which in my opinion is very derogative and of low standard . Do you call a bus or a cab driver a pilot ? NO. ( though nowadays high speed train drivers are mentioned as pilots , no issue ) . And if so that they are called as mere mechanics , then pilots should also be called as mere drivers of an aerial bus system , without any special treatment as they get. Simple. Otherwise , it has to be of similar importance. So my funny question comes from this ! Is there a driver ?? 😁 Yeah , those conductors are mostly ladies . 😄
