Thanks Paul. Some beautiful photos in the sunny and quiet countryside. Also I could not resist some alliteration by saying......we were lucky to look in the lovely little Church of St Leonard at Lower Lemington, built in the 1100s.

Last year, I visited some small villages in cotswold by public transportation. It was difficult but still worth it.

Thank you! Well done for going car free. The more people use busses and trains, and less of their cars, the better public transport will become, I feel. Cheers, Paul

Bus services are such a contentious issue- if you live in the countryside you need a car as the services are reduced or even disappear altogether- when we came here, a largish town there was a service to the county town- within a couple of of years it was taken away& is very much required as this is where the magistrates, police, county council offices ( some) are located. Children can’t access schools-there are numerous problems but all the time the routes are slashed. Yes we are a town without a police station for 40,000+ inhabitants. This was a very enjoyable video( glad the weather was dry!) I remember us having a conversation re the Fosse Way about a year ago - some people say it starts in Exeter but we think Axmouth!! Thanks Paul.

Oh, gosh yes Diana! Sorry I wasn't trying to imply that everyone can give their cars up (if they are fortunate enough to have one, and/or can drive) but I would love for public transport to be good enough all over so I could surrender my driving licence for good! Yes, there is certainly room for improvement, and public transport provision is patchy at best. This part of The Cotswolds though is better than most, and you can get from here to other popular places. Sorry to hear that you have lost your bus service entirely to your nearest market town - that's not good at all. Glad you enjoyed the video. I certainly enjoyed the walk. Take care, Paul

We are in complete agreement - more buses, more destinations too but it’s tantalising - when new services start up they soon disappear. We are a market town but without all the amenities- something that is available in the county town but denied to us as the bus has been removed! Rant over! Thanks Paul!

Thank you Daryl! Yes, I really don't enjoy driving these days - roads are just too busy, and driving standards have slipped a lot! This really is a great hub to make a base for anyone holidaying in the Cotswolds if they want to keep their car at home. Cheers! Paul

Hi, Paul. An excellent showcase of my hometown. I’ve never tried that circular walk, so that’s now on my bucket list. Looked to be a nice day, I’m surprised we didn’t bump into one another down in the town. A very enjoyable video. Cheers. Ron.🙂👍

Thank you Ron! Glad you enjoyed this little tour of your area. It is a walk I just made myself by looking at the map. It was a little tricky on that lane that runs beside the Fire Service College as the right turn isn't marked, and they have moved the route of the right of way - I think it is a large horse training paddock. I like Moreton-in-Marsh - apart from the traffic! Maybe if there were more railways and more frieght went by rail. I wonder if they have ever considered building other railways in the Cotswolds....oh! they did! And abandoned them! Such a loss! Cheers Ron!

Very enjoyable walk in the freshly minted colours and sounds of Springtime. It certainly makes the case for car-free exploration of many outstanding areas of the Cotswolds, which can be reached by a combination of bus, train and walking. As you point out, Moreton in Marsh and Evesham, besides being fascinating places to visit, are also excellent hubs for wider exploration. To improve car-free access, I think there is a strong case for significantly improving bus coverage, and reopening stations on the Cotswold Line, e.g. Chipping Campden and increasing services at others, e.g. Finstock, Ascott under Wychwood. Significantly improving rural transport, of course, requires political will and financial and other resources.

Thank you Malcolm! Glad you enjoyed this walk. Yes, I agree with all of that. As the science park (BRI?) next to the site of the former station at Chipping Campden is so big now, there must be a very good case for reopening that - and a minibus or similar to take people into the town. The car park next to it is huge - and packed, with all those employees travelling in by car! Take care and have a good Bank Holiday Weekend. Paul

@@westcountrywanderings Thank you. I have not visited the town for a while and had no idea about BRI - which looks substantial on OS. I recall a few buildings but nothing significant. I also recall the local roads being very busy. As you say, there must now be a strong case for reopening - with backing from BRI and the local authory, Cotswo;d Line promotion group. A connecting bus service might also follow, depending on demand.

Great and interesting walk, Paul. Nice to know you can get so close to Morton on Marsh and the surrounding areas by train and bus. Not quite so straightforward from the Andover area but never mind. Beautiful bluebells along the way too. I do like your frequent maps showing where you are on the walk. Mustn't forget your excellent photography skills either, with a perfect music background.

Thank you! I think the best way from Andover would be from Reading (via Basingstoke? - sorry don't know that area very well) through train to Moreton from Reading - just under an hour from there. I don't know how long it takes to get to Reading from where you are though. Glad you enjoyed it - yes, I always like to know where I am! Always think maps are essential in videos, especially on my walks and canal, and lost railway videos. Thanks for a lovely comment. Just heading home from a fabulous dual location holiday in Devon and Cornwall although by car this time, unfortunately! I do a review of one of the accommodations (a sort of shepherd's hut) in a video coming soon. Take care both, Paul

Hello Paul - greetings from Poland. What a beautiful peaceful walk. A wonderful video with superb still photographs. Bearing in mind all the walks you have done, is it not time for Westcountry Wanderings to produce its own guide book? The Cotswolds are certainly one of the best unspoilt areas of UK.

Thank you Michael! Hmm...that's got me thinking (about the guidebook). My only issue is with the time constraints, but it is certainly something that could work alongside my channel. I will give it some more thought....thank you! Yes, I agree, and I am very fortunate that they are on my doorstep - although this part of The Cotswolds needs a train journey, The Cotswold Way is only a few minutes walk from the house. Glad you enjoyed the photography. Take care, Paul

That was very enjoyable Paul! Such pretty countryside and you had an amazingly beautiful day for it. I would also want to visit the Cotswolds car free, so this video is really helpful. Did you find a present for your mum? It looks like a lovely selection of shops and market stalls! I hope she has a very enjoyable birthday!

Hi Paul. Now that was just a stunning route and one I’d like to do myself. I always use the OS maps and good to see you making use of it. Loved the bluebells along the way and you got yourself some lovely photos. I know it’s out of you region but have you ever walked around Fringford Oxfordshire? It’s the setting of larkrise to candleford and I’ve plotted a route to do there sometime in the summers. Regards Phil

Thank you Phil! Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, I know Faringdon, and it is on my lengthy list to visit at some point (bus from Didcot Parkway is probably the best option) - think there is a huge monument nearby. Heading to Devon and Cornwall now - haven't done anything from there for a few weeks! Cheers! Paul
