Beltaine Cottage is looking grand . Collette you should be proud of yourself what you did with it. It's hard to find Irish linen these days and when it can be found it's a very high price. I am growing Broccoli and cauliflower this year and garlic. And I am late . But runner beans are going in at the end of the week.

You have runaway growth because you walk around saying words like beautiful, exquisite, divine, amazing and bountiful. That’s the very best way to be with all life and it responds with abundance. Of course, you know this and find that having to trim and cut back is a small concession for your garden’s response to love. Your house and gardens are gorgeous and sumptuous.

@@JR-kz2xn astonishing isn't it..... I suppose a lot of middle class women then had more disposable time on their hands in which to perfect and persue such pastimes, they learnt at school and great store and pride felt. I often have one of my Nan's tablecloths on the table and I'm shocked how careless people have become at the table - the mess that was made, the staining of the cloths! I'm sure the rise of fast food, eating out of paper and cartons hasn't helped. 🤔🤪

🤣🤣🤣. You did make me laugh with your illicit rose cutting. ' excuse me love,,. What's the name of your rose I've just nicked?..🤣 I think " Illicit Rose." Is a perfect name for it. I love the sound of the breeze through the trees and the gentle chimes.. wonderful!! My nan used to have so many of those lace tablecloths, we used to have them on the back of the chairs too. She used to drive my dad bananas because when he was sitting down, she would push his head forward to straighten them out, then push his head back. That brought back some mad, but fond memories, so thank you for that. My ex husband threw them all away when she died. I'm so sad about that. But you have made me think of a funny memory. She used to iron them within an inch of their life and put a pretty one on the table with a bowl of fruit that was just for show!! Incase anyone visited. I'm of Italian French heritage but born and live in the UK. Your beautiful cottage reminds me of the village in Italy we originate from. The older I'm getting ( in my 60's )... my soul seems to be yearning for it... Have a wonderful day.💕

Beautiful as always 💚 I love your Hardanger cloth, I have a couple of bits of it that were my grandmother's, I also love the everyday tablecloths they used daily. I love my grandmother's of course though I have a very special place in my heart for one I rescued in Riga, Latvia. I was walking through the park that is in the centre of Riga when it started snowing, huge, great, beautiful flakes of snow. When we came to the edge of the park, across the road there were someone's possessions piled up by the kerb. My friend who was Russian but had grown up in Latvia told me that it would be because someone hadn't paid their rent, had maybe died, I was so sad that I couldn't have helped them ....then somehow I suddenly glimpsed something, natural colour and Royal Blue ....it was an embroidered table cloth beneath some snow. I began to tug at it , bit by bit it came my Latvian friend was becoming very anxious and told me that if the police came past we'd be in trouble and be arrested... I said I would take the blame , say I didn't know because I'm Irish, not Latvian! Anyway I'm still tugging very gently as I didn't want to damage it. Suddenly it came loose as if someone had let go of it - I fell backwards into the deep snow. My friend asked me what I was going to do with it , I told her that I was going to save it, repair it where needed and treasure it, which I do. She asked me why?! I told her I just have to... when it was made the person had hoped and dreams, what they were I can't know but I certain that they were very similar to any of ours, health and safety for their loved ones, especially during some very turbulent times they had. It comes out for every celebration and I think of the person who did all the work on it. And have them at our table. To be honest it's not the best cloth I've got workmanship wise, but it holds a very special place in my heart.... I'm going to make sure it will pass to someone who knows the whole story and how I felt compelled to save it - it will be in good hands, for her lifetime and then her daughters. I'm sorry for the tong comment 💚🌼☘️x

Colette, at times when possible and feeling up to it, could you add typed out the names of some of your plants? Today, the one I think started with two syllables of "C" and perhaps ending with being "Aster", I would love to know what it is. It was along a wall and the bees were enjoying it! 🥰 I'm from America. 🇺🇸 🙂 Some of the names of plants I can make out and some along with hearing them correctly, I know of and some I've had. I'm sure you're speaking them all correctly! I dearly adore your accent. In America there's so many different accents! As well, I don't know if we have all of the same plants as Ireland. Some I'm sure aren't in both of our continents. My Great-Grandparents came from Ireland to America. So I have Irish in my ancestry and some in my other blood line, too. Thank you kindly, Colette. I always feel nourished by watching you, seeing your lovely cottage, and life in your ever-evolving three acres! A most beautiful slice of earth!
