I'm a bit of an audiophile. I'm guessing this might be a laser disc version because of the subtitles. The Japanese LaserDisc version contains the original uncompressed sound design that you can't find anywhere even on the blu-rays kudos to whoever posted this. I saw this movie on opening weekend in 1984 and it was the most amazing sound design I have ever heard

That is Joe, but what is throwing you off is the lousy post production of the audio where they probably had Joe recite his lines in this scene later on.
