Best film post 2000 (it has already been released in France and has surpassed all post-COVID American productions on French soil except Avatar 2)

I loved this film, it's beautiful! Pierre Niney is awesome. He is the volcano of hidden passion I have always dreamt of seeing in Monte-Cristo.

Brilliant film. Saw it a few months ago in the UK. One of my favourite adaptations of the story. A bit like the recent two part D'artangan films this is just superbly made from the production to the acting.
@Palace-g9uАй бұрын
Just watched this adaptation clocking in just under 3 hrs and it is visually stunning with excellent acting. Haven't read the book but expect liberties were taken, similar to any Dicken's novel dramatization, nonetheless, the story as told here was riveting and never boring. Perhaps the English 8 part version airing in December will be more faithful to the original work. Hopefully both productions will get people to read the Dumas masterpiece as I now plan on doing.

the actors, the production, the script, the costume, the location set are great the only thing I complain about is the cinematography.. this should be having a great cinematography scenery of the film.. still I want to watch it tho...

This looks good, but it should be a 8-12 part miniseries to do it justice.
@rodneyfierce9001Ай бұрын
There is also an 8-part miniseries starring Jeremy Irons that was created by a different company in 2024. It is being released in France in December, and in America hopefully in 2025

ONe of my favorite books ever. Going to have to see this. Maybe they'll do Crime and Punishment, too. Stupid American studios only doing comic book superhero and sequels of sequels nowadays.

I don't like it either but at about an hour in you forget that you are reading them because the story is so good. At least that's how it was for me when I watched it.

Won't be ever watching it as I can't stand foreign language films. Reading subtitles detracts from what happens on the screen. I've seen several versions of the movie over decades. All in English. Foreign language film is not going to be a blockbuster in the US where the real film profits occur.
