Maxine Elliott Hicks (although it doesn't say who she played) acted up until 1994 (and passed away in 2000 at the tender age of 95). She appeared in "Beethoven" (1992), Defending Your Life (1991) and several TV appearances from the 70's through 90's.

Thank you for that info. The gentleman who is in this face shot resembles CHARLES LAUGHTON but I don't think a younger Charles LAUGHTON but I'm not sure - until the movie begins. Any knowledge on this, please?

@@LIZZIE-lizzie That might be John Steppling. He's the heaviest looking actor in the movie according to images on imdb and would've been around 50 in 1920, so the age is about right. John Steppling Born: August 8, 1870 in Essen, Germany Died: April 5, 1932 (age 61) in Hollywood, California Appeared in movies from 1911 until his death in 1932. Watch for 'Otis Tucker' in the movie and see if it's him.

James Anthony It’s amazing to me that “cinema” began that early. Thanks, James.

@@NancyDrewe Thomas Edison (yeah, _that_ Thomas Edison) directed and produced motion pictures (shorts) from 1893 until 1914, so you can go back _even earlier_ than this movie's 1912 date. =)

@@NancyDrewe cinema began at least 1890. I have seen some short films from 1892 in perfect condition. The movies were excellent

This is the 1920 “County Fair,” not the 1912 movie.

Yes, opening credits clearly state 1920.

There were very few feature films released in 1912- that is, those films lasting more than one (or two) reels. After the success of "The Birth of a Nation" in 1915, more extended motion pictures were produced.
