Along with an enforceable code of ethics, and term limits (18 years seems too long to me too), I am in favor of expanding the Supreme Court from 9 Justices to 13. There are 13 judicial circuits in the US; currently some justices manage more than one circuit. This is a logical reason for expanding the court. And the situation as it now exists is SO extreme, SO stacked and corrupted I feel court expansion is a necessary part of the cleanup of corruption and partisanship. And I feel there must be prosecutions for financial bribery accepted by current Justices, and remove them from the court. Thanks Brando.

@@jesstreloar7706 The entire system relies on judges being as unbiased as possible, and where applicable to recuse themselves if they are biased. The problem is that having that stipulation is relying on the honor system and some justices are not honorable, regardless of if they are referred to as such. But generally speaking judges are supposed to be able to interpret the law without considering their own religious/personal/cultural stance on the subject. I think it's been a progression for a while now of judges in general allowing themselves to insert what they think it should be, instead of what the law has been interpreted as, and now they just blatantly say the opposite of the law if that pleases their liege.

No more rules. God it feels like strangulation. With all the surveillance systems out there, how can you not be on tv? Somewhere? Instead let's have our children be educated on civic duty and responsibilities. Like voting. Jury duty. Having the minimal knowledge of the Constitution, its Amendments, Due Process, How to pull over if a siren vehicle is on and is behind you, what a PAC is, why religion is not taught in public education until after high school, etc.

Since we VOTE for those offices I think we need to learn to vote or not vote rather than removing choice. Terms limits don't remove corruption, they can enhance it. As soon as a politician no longer has a chance to remain in office they have no incentive at all to actually represent us. We voters no longer have control. So they will be focused on making their future career on the outside. We will no longer matter.

Joe Biden can use the Insurrection Act of 1807 to use the military to arrest Trump and other insurrectionists. Other insurrectionists to include but not limited to Senators, Representatives, and SCOTUS judges. Arrest and immediately put on trial. The biggest showiest trial the world has seen since the Nuremburg trials after WW2. Expose the full extent of the crimes of Trump and his cronies. We may possibly even find that Trump is actually working with foreign agencies to overthrow the USA. For money...

I'm 100% for this along with an ethics/oversight on scotus. I'm also for term limits on all politicians with an ethics standard, and donation cap across the board with NO "gifts" allowed.

It only matters if the poorly educated heard your message. They think having power helps them but their wrong. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. They should no longer be called Supreme.

They need to add term and age limits for Senators and Representatives too. The selection of 18 years is what eventually allows for each President to nominate 2 justices.

Ageism. They should however, have ethics and cogency tests for all politicians. They HAVE term limits for senators and representatives.

I had another idea. How about a wealth limit? If their net worth exceeds what is plausible considering their wages, then they can't run again.
@diannahill5577Күн бұрын
Agreed. Being in a powerful position for too long can cause multiple issues. Power and money often corrupts.

18 years? How about 8 years, and even that is being generous. 18 years for a 55 year old justice IS a lifetime appointment!

I think 15 year term limits with an extended SCOTUS to at least 13. And a strong ethics code should be added. 💙✌️🥀

I think there needs to be term limits on SCOTUS at this point. When the constitution set it up as life time appointment, men didn't live as long as they do now.
@neildaniels1423Күн бұрын
From my mother: I may not live to see Clarence Thomas & Samuel Alito punished for accepting Republican and/or corporate bribes, as they will probably retire and enjoy their spoils, BUT I hope I live to see term limits & an enforceable code of ethics for the Supreme Court that is sadly necessary for the corrupted, once-respectable highest court of Our Land. Thanks TB, stay True Blue :)

It's about darn time that they put on limit on the Supreme Court Justices should have been done a long time ago. And I will agree what's putting on limit on Senators and House of Representatives too. All you have to do is look how old Mitch McConnell is ,then you'll get the picture.Right now, Women have lost their rights to choose, and someplace down the dumb dumb line the president has no consequences, it gives him the right to be a dictator and an a-hole. Just my opinion of course

I have been an advocate for term limits for the supreme court, also representatives, and senators. Also, a set mandatory retirement age for all politicians. I also think that politicians should not be getting a lifetime pension for serving only a few terms. So many of them leave Washington and go into the private sector earning huge salaries for lobbying or something similar. It's time we force this issue.
