I think a lot of people have wanted to see how the cow with the abscessed/amputated tail is doing today. Well let's find out!
Merchandise coming soon hopefully?! Let me know if there's a demand for some shirts or hats. I'm close to getting some designs ready to be finalized.

Some people will never understand how things work on a farm. I’m no farmer, but it shouldn’t be difficult to see the positive difference in the cows health and well-being. Glad to see she’s doing good and has a a baby calf. Thank you for sharing these kinds of videos 🙏🏼

I have to claim ignorance on this, but I'm inclined to think the results speak for themselves. The cow is mobile, eating well, and has a healthy, nursing calf. From my untrained perspective, that adds up to a total win. Well done!

Really? Because that's not the issue, the issue is being left in the state for as long as she was. Same as human beings, you leave someone with their arm hanging half off and do a video like it's no big deal, guess what, it's a big deal. I know cattle so don't try to say I don't, I've worked farms for over 30yrs and never would have allowed that to stay that way, my vet would have been called immediately!
@TheFarmGuy
@TheFarmGuy 3 жыл бұрын
@@dolphinsblu how long was she left in that state if you know so well? Comparing a human limb half attached to an animal with a tumor is quite the stretch.
@dolphinsblu
@dolphinsblu 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheFarmGuy if it was more than a day it was too long! If a vet wasn't called the moment you realized it, especially in the condition you decided to show everyone, it was too long. That could have been a massive infection that turned septic and inturn you lose your cow and calf. Now to compare the two is not a far stretch as it's trying to give you a mental picture of what others see that don't know much about farm life. You made the comment you didn't want to discuss the negative comments and I know there were a lot of them but it's because that's how people feel. It's an automatic empathy reaction that humans have, thus the comparison to a human arm half off. Also, many people say the animals don't feel this, or don't feel that but we don't truly know what they do or don't feel and that's the thing that urks me to no end. If that was hanging off you it would be painful (I'm sure you used some type of anti inflammation meds and antibiotic) but just like with humans it doesn't take all the pain away. Because animals can't speak and say, "hey guys this really hurts and it's rotting off my body, could you maybe do something to help", we as their caregivers need to be on top of things and responsible for what happens to them. It's not always easy to deal with, to stop on top of depending on how many heads, and not always the fault of the farmer but what we saw and you showed us, that was bad!
@roseyannette2030
@roseyannette2030 3 жыл бұрын
@@dolphinsblu It appears as though your "work with cows" was with dairy cows? Beef cows are often out in the fields and are not seen every day, hell, sometimes, depending upon the size of the farm, some beef cows are loose on a couple hundred acres, and can not be closely seen by anyone for quite a while. It would, depending upon the weather, the type of infection, and the cow, it can happen in only a week or so. Anyway, if you were NOT there and don't know for SURE how long it was, I'd say mind your manners and knock off the armchair farming! I'm 62 yrs old, was raised on a farm and been around farming more than your "30 yrs" and I know stuff can happen that we have no control over. It's called life. You can tell by looking at how healthy the rest of the animals are, these are not abused nor neglected animals by any means.

The people posting all of the negative comments haven’t been around cattle much if at all. The wound in the first video looked pretty bad but the epidural injection given to her at the beginning would have blocked all of the pain. The skin on that wound area looked like it was most likely necrotic which means that it is dead tissue. Nothing either the rancher or the vet could have done would have got that skin back. So any arguments that it should have been left alone or somehow re-attached a moot points. Glad to see that she calved about six months later. That’s a really good sign of her overall health. Overall an interesting couple of videos.

I am not a cattle rancher but I imagine that this is more common than many would think. The fact that this particular rancher decided to educate us about it is a good thing. Remember, he had a vet remove the tail. If she thought it was going to be a problem, she would have said so. So lighten up and be glad this guy takes care of his animals.... some don't.

Previous video where he said they got a lot of critisism from people, mostly those who are not around cattle..... have been around cattle to a degree my whole life and I knew the tail could not be saved from the moment I saw it. Yes, lots of strange things happen to cattle....No, not everyone knows how much goes into ranching, but do not discount peoples remarks for caring about the poor creatures comfort. Domestic animals are here for us to shepherd, which means caring for them, whether they are our critters or someone elses, most of us care about them. But I am glad you finally had it amputated. Poor ole girl.

Don't worry about what people say with their negative comment's. It brought a bunch of people to your channel. That's how I found you, watching hoof trimming and the absess popped up with the farm on it, so I watched. It was a little different take on it after watching vet's cutting these abscesses on the bottom with a puncture and working on the same hole. You did what you had to do to save your cow and she looks great now. I can almost guarantee that 98.9% of the negative comment's are from people who have never stepped foot on a farm, except to get pumpkins at Halloween. New Subscriber as of now.

They don't know how much goes into ranching if they did they would understand we spend every day of the year covered in cow manure watching cows, calves and bulls . They just don't have a clue we spend the majority of our time on the rtv checking cows. We can only do so much but in that we have cold calves laying in the floor board warming up and my wife jumping in a pond to push a cow in labor back out of the water so I can get a rope on her. The pond was cold cows crap in it and she is the strongest swimmer I would sink with clothes and boots. The behind the scenes look in to cattle ranching is tiring but rewarding watching the next crop of calves come up

Thank you for the follow up. A friend of mine shared a story with us many years ago. He was stationed on the carrier Midway and he had some awful stomach pain. He went to the emergency clinic. They whisked him into a room and got him onto a table. On the ceiling there was a poste that said in cheery colors: "A Chance to Cut is a Chance to Cure!". Needless to say he went, "Gulp." They found gallstones and told him to go lay down for a day or two and on his next shore leave to get the thing out. He did and got better. The cut was the cure Same for your sad sack girl. Happy ending despite the grizzly drama. Thanks for sharing the ordeal despite the ordeal for you and your wife. Farming isn't always a picnic.
