"The Cradley Heath Song" sung by Bev Pegg

Bev Pegg sings "The Cradley Heath Song". This great song was written by George "Woodie" Woodall with a bit of help from Johnny Tordoff, and recorded by Brian Clift on the "Black Country Night Out" album in 1976. Brian has ceased to perform live these days. Bev is keen to keep this song about his original home town alive and performs it at most of his solo appearances in the Black Country. I havn't heard this song for years'...Since my dad ran the Vine & Railway in Cradley(Now Demolished)...Very Sad eh?...Nice one Bev...!!

My grandad used to drink in the vine and railway during the second world war when he was on leave then he used to stumble all the way back to farm road in Langley after a skinfull. Where was the vine and railway?

My Dad, George Woodall, wrote and sang this folk tune with his best mate Brian….to say this is the improved version is quite insulting to my Fathers memory

Improved from my previous video of the song. Certainly not an improvement on Woody & Brian's version. Maybe I wasn't as clear as I meant to be. Humble apologies for the misunderstanding. I also did an "improved version" of my "Halesowen '57 song.
