The Craft- Marty Hanson’s story

Marty Hanson is a professional decoy carver from Hayward Wisconsin that has been honing his craft since his first carving at eleven years old! It takes a lifelong dedication and passion to achieve what Marty does every day.
This is a story I want to share because I have always appreciated what we as craftsman create with our heads, hearts and our hands. This our dedication, our life’s work, our story and our legacy! Whether it’s an architect in Chicago, a blacksmith in the Carolina’s or a boatbuilder in Montana, I have a deep appreciation for the way we refine our craft over many years and the environments where inspiration is found and the shops and studios where art is made. I find it’s important to tell these stories to inspire others to take the time to slow down and appreciate what takes time and enjoy the process of the “Craft.”
