I enjoyed your video very much! Your church design by Stitch World X-Stitch is GORGEOUS!!! I 💕💕💕LOVE💕💕💕 it, so much so that I paused your video and immediately went searching for the design. Alas, no luck ☹ I used to live in Michigan, in Iron Mountain which you may know is in the upper peninsula. It was a special time and I do miss it. I'm also a quilter although I haven't quilted for several years. I also knit but haven't done that for a while. Like you, cross stitch is my favorite. I look forward to your next video!

Thank you! I "inherited" that pattern from my son's former piano teacher. I'd be happy to pass it on to you when I'm done with it! I do know where Iron Mountain is .... funny story ... I almost ended up living in that area myself. My husband interviewed for a job just up the road in Crystal Falls while we were on our honeymoon. By the time we got "home" they had called and told my Father-In-Law that they wanted to hire him. He had an interview with the job he has now a couple of days later and was offered that job, so didn't end up taking the Crystal Falls job. I love the UP -- especially Tahquamenon Falls!!

The Crafty Cataloger Katrina, that is so very kind of you! Thank you so much! Are you on Instagram? I am shirlee_stitches there. I am familiar with Crystal Falls. Also with the falls you mentioned although we've never been to those. Your husband's job offers came close together as my husband's did once. Not the Iron Mountain job though.

I love your cross stitch sequence. It's so much fun to put a voice to your face and comments that are always so encouraging to me. Quilting, oof, I need to get to it more but so hard with the littles and attention. I just love the way you did the dewey's decimals, it's perfect!!

Thanks Margaret! I was trying to figure out how long ago it was we connected ... I know it's been several years because it was your blog where we first "met"! Quilting (sewing in general) requires a lot more brain power for me, so I always feel like I have to really not have other things nagging at me before I can tackle it.

Great first video. I agree....that church looks fantastic. The whole piece does. And your haeds are also great. I find it good to look at the super detailed pieces inn camera every now and then to get an idea of how they look when we're not all involved in the stitching.

Hellllo fellow Michigander... I love my mitten map, when I moved to Ohio 32yrs ago I used it often, I’m from the Lake Huron area, near St.Clair Shores, Roseville MI. Oh how I miss our times as a kid & adult up north to our cottage, Harbor Beach, from there we’d travel to Harbor Springs, viewing the stars ✨it was a low ceiling & felt like they could be touched.... I stumbled upon your channel & really enjoyed you, your down to earth :-) & your smile 😊 is engaging. Your crafts are lovely. Look forward to your updates.. Blessings Katrina....💛🇺🇸🙏

Welcome, Katrina!!! Such a good first video! I worked in our public library system, did some cataloging work when they were short-staffed, and love your Dewey decimals. Your Jane Austen piece is lovely. And one over one! Your shawl WIP is gorgeous. Happy stitching and reading! 😊 Donna Rae

Thank you Katrina for diving into the Flosstube adventure. You have most definitely succeeded in this first attempt, your projects, soothing tone and love of books are a pleasure to listen to. I particularly like your Jane Austen piece and the way you managed to incorporate your trade in the video. Now I will head out to learn about the Dewey decimal classification system. Thank you again for sharing, and opening me up to something new. Wishing you a lovely week-end in Michigan, mev

KATRINA!!!!!!!! I loved this video. I knew you were going to do fantastic and you did. I loved seeing some of your older pieces. If you have more you should show them! I also love all your WIPs. I've discovered what works best for me is a hybrid of parking and crossing country (even though I am not currently employing this technique on any of my active HAED WIPS). I like to pick the first color in the first 10 block column, and then cross country that color all the way down the column and then park it on the next page where it is next used. Alternatively, I've also tried cross country down a column until my strand runs out and then moving on to the next color. Either way, I love trying different methods. I think that table runner you did is so beautiful! And that cubby hole that you're working on is pretty! I love the blues. That Autumn dimension piece is stunning. I wish we had fall like that in California, but we just don't :( I have actually been to Michigan once or twice to visit some family friends. It was summer time, though. Would love to come in the fall sometime to experience an actual season change. LOL. If I make it out there, I'll let you know! I always wanted to be a librarian. I volunteered for a week at our local library when the librarians were on strike. I loved it. I sorted books that came in a restocked the shelves and put the holds on the hold shelf. It was fantastic. Anyway, please do make more! I'm already anxious to see your next video. I subscribed AND HIT THE ALERT BUTTON! I love how you incorporated the Dewey number system. So perfect and so you! Can't wait for the next video. Sad I'm not your first comment, but so happy others have discovered and watched your videos. Told you I wouldn't be the only one! SQUEE! Okay, this comment is longer than I intended! But you're fantastic!

Kate ... YOU'RE THE BEST! Definitely let me know if you're ever in MI. Whereabouts do your family friends live? I love working in a library, I love helping people find whatever they need, whether it's information or just a good book to read! I'm glad we've become long-distance stitchy/crafty/book friends!!

Your channel caught my eye because it said "cataloger". I also work for a library system, but I'm an acquisitions assistant. Enjoyed seeing your stitching, but please do also feature your quilting, knitting, etc. The baby blanket is beautiful! Looking forward to more videos from you!
@TheCraftyCataloger6 жыл бұрын
What do you do as an acquisitions assistant? I spend most of my time cataloging, but also do a couple of reference desk shifts every week and I help to keep our catalog running smoothly. Never a dull moment in a library!!
@craftycatstitcher66586 жыл бұрын
Mainly I order (but don't select) the books that are selected, check them in when they arrive, and make sure they're invoiced properly and going to the correct funds and branches. We have four branches, one of them is the busiest in the state, and two more in the top 10 in the state! So things move pretty fast!

I'm the head of Technical Services here at my library, so although I don't do the receiving, I do oversee the person who does ... definitely a big job! I think most people would be amazed at how much work goes into getting all the great stuff libraries have out on the shelves!!

Great video! Your knitting is incredible. I can't hardly believe You taught Yourself! I live in Wisconsin, and aren't the tree colors amazing this year? It's sweet You're quilting with Your Mom, even if it isn't Your favorite craft. Keep stitching and recording! :)

Thanks Patty! Caroline from "Off the Grid Needlearts" definitely made learning the basics easy with her great tutorials. YES!! The colors are spectacular this year. So many of the trees are "tipped" with color instead of being completely changed all at once and it's a really pretty effect! Someday I'm going to visit Wisconsin. What I'd really like to do someday is take the car ferry over ... not sure why, but that seems like it would be a neat thing to do! Thanks for watching! ~Katrina

Hi Katrina, I had same thing happen with some of my finished pieces. I had no problem getting spotches out of the aida cloth. Just washed in dish liquid rinsed really well it all came out.

I'm so sorry Patsy, I didn't realize I hadn't responded to your comment (sometimes I respond in my head and forget I didn't actually type it, LOL). I still need to try to get that spot out of that piece ... maybe I'll try to tackle that next weekend. Dish liquid is a good idea!! ~Katrina

Thank you! I love all forms of books. Working in a library we get a lot of people who won't touch an eBook or an audiobook and then we have the opposite side, who will only non-print versions. Me ... I like any format ... they all seem to have different times when they work best. I do get frustrated when I can't find the book I want on audio though, since that seems to be what I have the most time for thanks to my commute!

Hello Katrina! Just discovered your channel and I enjoyed your first video so much! I too read (or listen to) Christian fiction with the emphasis on historical Christian fiction. Hi. I just stumbled on your channel at video #11 and paused it to go back to your first video. My mind tends to work in a linear fashion. Belated welcome to FlossTube. I am going to binge-watch your playlist to catch-up, but so far so good. Hopefully, you will not have taken a deep dive into samplers (not my jam - I don't understand the lure of them) and SALs and sales pitches from a shop I won't mention here, but which seems to have taken over advertising space on almost every FlossTube channel. Good luck - and hope this note finds you safe and well in these challenging times.
@TheCraftyCataloger3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I have done a couple of pieces that are "sampler-esque" (I totally made up that word and spelling), but samplers aren't really my jam either. I have tried to do a couple of SALs, but I can't keep up, so have basically given up -- it's pressure/stress I don't need, I just want to enjoy stitching what I want when I want. 😁 Thanks for stopping by, hopefully you continue to enjoy the rest of the videos. I suppose I should find time to make another one soon.

Hi Katrina! Your first video turned out so well!! How clever that you're putting the catalogue numbers in each segment! Focusing on one HAED each month is a really good idea. This year I tried stitching just one HAED for 1200 stitches every month, and I burned out. I quit around June I think, and I haven't picked it up since then. The church WIP is very pretty. I've always been curious about quilting so I enjoyed seeing what you're working on. Maybe some day I will have some time, but so far I haven't been willing to share my hobby time with anything other than cross stitch. Beautiful table runner! Audio books are the best. Can't wait to see more from you and you should be proud of how easy you made this look!
