2 years after... listening to this with a heavy heart on a Sunday morning. How ironic that this was entitled "In the End" from their final album with Dolores (I still hope they get to reset and make a restart somehow though they already made a decision to just end it). I've been a fan since 1994 as a fourth grader, too young to understand the depth of lyrics of each song from the first two albums but old enough to appreciate the melodies. This band left a huge impact in my life I am now 36 turning 37 in a couple weeks and my adoration for the Cranberries never wane not even a bit. Dolores may have left this world since three years ago but her legacy lives on as long as all their songs get played in one way or another.

“In early 2017, the four of us got together to rehearse for the ‘Something Else’ Tour. During rehearsals, we discussed many times how great it would be to write and work on new material for a new album… The prospect of writing and working on new material for a new album was very exciting. Over the following months the task of working on what would become ‘In The End’ began. By December 2017, Dolores had completed and recorded the vocals to final demo stage on the eleven songs which feature on this recording, and we had planned to go into the studio to complete the album in early 2018. After Dolores' devastating and unexpected passing in January 2018, we took some time out and put all plans on hold. As time passed, we began to think about how we might best honour our close friend and bandmate. This was a very painful process. We remembered how Dolores had been so energised by the prospect of making this record and getting back out on the road to play the songs live, and realised that the most meaningful thing to do was to finish the album we had started with her. We felt that this is what she would want. We spoke with Dolores' family and they agreed. It was a very emotional process for us. Knowing that we would never get to play these songs live made it even more difficult. There was also an overwhelming sense of finality knowing that this was the last time that we would be in the same studio together working on a Cranberries album. We would like to take the chance to thank ours and Dolores’ family and friends and all those who worked with the band over the years. To our fans, who have stood by us for almost thirty years; thank you, without you, none of this would have been possible. It has been an incredible journey. We dedicate this album to our dear friend and bandmate Dolores. She will always be with us in her music.” ~The Cranberries

A fan from the first album on...I thought I was ready to hear this, the very last recording. To accept this was another "goodbye" of sorts. I wasn't ready. 😥 The Cranberries were a soundtrack of much of my young life, their lyrics always spoke powerfully to me. This, as the last recording...the lyrics just cut me in half. I am a couple years younger and am myself terminally ill with Multiple System Atrophy. (In fact, I never dreamed I would outlive her). And the lyrics, in my typical Dolores and Cranberries experience, are so true of not only of her life, but also mine. All the recognition, the "stuff" we wanted, we find is not what is important at all. 😣 RIP beautiful Dolores...thank you, and thank you Mike, Noel, and Fergal...for everything. 💚 🧡

It's tragic how our whole life we're waiting for something "big" to happen, just to realise that the most special and beautiful moments were seemingly the most meaningless and simple ones, perhaps those spend in solitude, daydreaming. Rarely we allow ourselves to just "be", without the radio, TV or some other noise that will cover over the sound of life, which is silent. We so seldom take the time to find beauty in the meaninglessness and simplicity, trying to make sense out of everything, racing through life to make "it" happen. But for who and what for? We overlook the simplicity of "random" moments. That's where the "juice" is. Nobody have tought us how to live. Rest in peace, Dolores.

Even MORESO, I’m so so very thankful that Dolores started laying down tracks of her vocals once they all were moved apart rather far. It was genius, it worked perfect, and had they not decided to make their recording easier, we would not have been blessed with this final album forever. This is so beautiful yet haunting to my soul. This makes me so sad, brings tears to my eyes. She was beautiful inside and out. Though broken she was, like many of us . Yet she turned the ugliness of broken and shattered it, turning it into beautiful lyrics with the echoe of a voice like no other. A voice so Unique added with passion and a wide voice range. Beautiful soul certainly so. She will continue to shine on. And touch so many who are troubled and broken lost into despair.

I never got that chance, I didn't get to know this music until after Delores was gone. But with every word she sings, I can feel her soul, her spirit, right here on Earth and it's almost as if she's never left at all. This is the meaning of the words. You really can't take the spirit. This woman's spirit is the strongest of all, unlike any other artist I've ever heard. God bless you, Delores O'Riordan, your spirit lives on. It lives on within this music.

This whole album sounds like pieces that should be used on the netflix show "the oa". Please somebody do this...

I’ve been avoiding listening to anything from this album for months, I wanted to hang onto having it to look forward to for just a little longer, and I just wasn’t ready to listen to the last thing she and the boys would do together. Not that it detracts from the music in the slightest, I’m every bit as heartbroken as I thought I would be. Indeed, the music is so good, I cannot help but feel sadness we will never get to see the Cranberries perform them. I am still heartbroken over the loss of Dolores, and I mourn with and for the boys, but what a phenomenal job they did to bring this last bit of amazing music to us. We are blessed they chose to share it with us. Thank you, Cranberries, for everything you have done over the years.

I love how at 40 seconds the backing vocals pan...if you close your eyes it's like it's moving from your left to your right
