Following a 1990 NFL week 2 game at the Pontiac Silverdome between the Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons defensive backs coach Jimmy Carr was so upset that he decided to take his frustration out in the worst possible way. He decided to try and fight a Lions fan in an elevator, which went about as well as you'd expect. If you thought Norm Van Brocklin trying to fight a reporter after the game was the only incident involving a Falcons coach trying to fight someone, think again. This is the story behind the 1990 Falcons and this bizarre incident

Bob Gagliano had one of the most interesting career arcs. 12th round pick in 1982 and is on the Chiefs roster for two years while throwing one pass. Out for three seasons. Plays a strike game in 1987 for the 49ers. Doesn't play in the NFL in '88. Ends up on the Lions and becomes a part-time starter for the first time at 31.

Look at all the empty seats in the upper deck at 2:47. This was in a six year span when the Lions didn't sell out any home games. They broke that streak in the middle of the 1991 season with a home sellout against the Cowboys.

@@johnwiesner9590 The thing is, the Lions got many ticket requests for that '93 game but since they were from Wisonsin, they were returned. The Lions would rather not sell out than sell to visiting fans. If that's not bad sportsmanship, I don't know what is.

Hey Jaguar. Can you look up the Eagles/49ers game at Candlestick Park in 92. As an Eagles fan it always stuck out to me as a kid. There was a first down we got that was taken away after the refs repositioned the ball about a yard back for no reason. Of course this was during that gray period after they got rid of instant replay and before they brought it back. Cost us the game. Me, as a 7 year old knew it was complete b.s, and I didn't know a lick about gambling yet. But something was VERY WRONG about that game

This 1990 Falcons team at times seemed to care more about acting tough than winning football games. Glanville was trying to instill an attitude into an identity-less team but they went just 2-7 in games decided by seven points or less. What they really needed was more attention to detail and less of the tough guy act.
@DolFan316
@DolFan316 2 жыл бұрын
Jerry Glanville and Buddy Ryan were basically the same person: guys who acted tough instead of being tough (yes, there's a difference) whose teams always came apart like a cheap suit in the postseason. At least Ryan lied about his age to serve during World War II so he's got that going for him.
