When the uploader of this game says thanks for providing some data, well that opens the door to say that this video is worlds better than the one I have of this game, so it is truly great to finally see what actually happened through a clear screen. But it also opens the door to say that arguably the two most important plays of this game happened in between when the Buffalo is lining up @12:02 and when they are then seen lining up @12:04. The two plays in between were what changed it from 1st & 10 to 3rd & 15.

@Butter Bradshaw: "The Fordy Nyeners cain't cain't, cain't do that." We used to laugh at him criticizing the Niners especially when they were playing the Saints. He would start up about what they weren't capable of doing, and then they would make a big play, many times by doing exactly what they weren't able to do. I remember hearing in 1987 that some people complained to CBS because he was so biased. Mostly we would turn down the volume on our sets and listen to Lon Simmons call the games on the radio.

@@markgardner9460 The Giants uniforms weren't that bad, just a drastic change from what they were used to wearing, although that helmet logo was an embarrassment and big mistake that quickly resolved. The Bills went from the "standing" Buffalo to the "streaking" Buffalo under the OJ attack.
@3243_
@3243_ Жыл бұрын
@SportsStatsNGab I have to go with the Bills' uniforms in just a slight edge over the Giants' unis (both were new uniforms that season), because the Giants seemed to be better served by simpler uniform designs, such as the ones they wore pre-1975 and the ones they switched to in 1980 and later in 2000 (they need to go back to the gray pants with their current jerseys). As for the Bills, these uniforms had good graphics and colors, and were not at all like those horrid overcomplicated uniforms they went to in 2002 (and I cannot stand monochrome uniforms in the NFL--leave those for high school and college teams). If the Bills would just wear their blue jerseys, white pants, and blue socks at home and bring back their blue pants and white socks with their white jerseys, they would easily have one of the NFL's top uniform sets.

You always hoped OJ was bust a long one back then. Cool video and my favorite part was always monday night highlights especially this one, that had my Vikes and my personal favorite RB of all time, Chuck (the spinmiester) Foreman. As far as i'm concerned Chuck should have been in the HOF, the Vikes offense was crap before him and crap after him. He carried that offense from 73- 77 before he got injured but he could everything, block, receive and run. I think the Vikes never winning a SB hurt his chances since he had such a short but magnificent career. Seems like some drunk always did something crazy during MNF, just missed Dandy Don who would have had something funny and clever to say about it.

Another former CFLer (and two time Grey Cup champion with Ottawa) in Vic Washington playing for Buffalo. In 1995, at the age of 45, Joe Ferguson came out of retirement and signed with the CFL's San Antonio Texans (the final year of the, unless you were in Baltimore, failed U.S. expansion of the CFL). He was released after a couple of games. I didn't know the Packers actually won a game in Texas Stadium. Ed Marinaro went on to a decent acting career following his football career. To say the Juice was special is an understatement. The man was thrill to watch in every sense of the word. Craig Morton deserved a better team than he had with the Giants. He had a cannon for an arm. Unfortunately that NYG OL gave him no time at all. This game was a reminder of why we are thankful, that the straight-on kicker was an endangered species at the time. This was also a reminder that Howard was not always the sharpest knife in the drawer. Just to correct Cosell. It's Metropolitan Stadium in Minnesota, not Bloomington Stadium. The only RB that I can think of that compared to O.J.'s running style is Dorsett, but O.J. was faster. Look closely at the football. They're using the striped version -- similar to the one college has used for years but the stripe didn't go the full half of the top of the ball and had a little strip on the bottom. I thought they only used this in 1973. You can see it being used in the Super Bowl 8 but not in 9. Oh, and I had forgotten that Morton played for the Giants. Pretty sure he wishes he could forget those 2 years!!

Wow! Football much closer to what it was meant to be, rather than something that more resembles 100-yard volleyball while the lineman dance with each other 80s-style. The blocking looks like blocking, not pushing your opponent around with your hands. Running plays and running back being a major part of the offense. But, it really only looks like older school football, because these teams played terribly. The Bills look OK early, but seemed like they just went into the tank. The Giants were not a good team. I am a Giants fan who was alive at the time. Arnsbarger was not a good head coach. He had success as a defensive coordinator and as an athletic director at Florida, but as an NFL head coach, this was his one chance, and it went poorly. Andy Robustelli was not a good GM for the Giants. He was a HOF defensive end, decent businessman, and genuinely nice (I played sports with his sons). But, five losing seasons and a fumble in November 1978 ended his football career. One of the interesting things is to hear the comments about the Giants undersized line in this video. Maybe Robustelli had an affinity for smaller defensive lineman, as he was one. Both Arnsbarger and Robustelli kind of show how success in some areas does not extend to others. Arnsbarger had a couple great defenses as a DC in Miami and changed Florida as an AD. Robustelli was a great "thinking" Defensive End, ran a great Giants D-line as a player, succeeded in business, before and after being a GM. But neither worked in the role that they had at the time of this game. I do wish football would go back to being played this way, but so many rules changes would have be unwound.
@markgardner9460
@markgardner9460 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comments! Tes, success as a player does not guarantee success as a coach or front office personell. I wish teams would learn that lesson. Blocking today is not blocking - it's grabbing and holding for as long as you can. Holding your arms horizontally clenching your fists and driving into your opponent hasn't been the norm in many decades. I prefer this era of football for this and many more reasons. Thank you for watching!

Very easy to believe the Bills were favored by 13.5. They were rolling through the season and ended with the highest point total in the league. Was the “craziest happening” the guy on the wire? Because I would say Damar Hamlin collapsing is much crazier. Fans do crazy stupid crap relatively often compared to a player collapsing on the field the way Hamlin did.

It's a matter of opinion. While fans do crazy stuff somewhat often, this is the only instance that I know of a fan performing a high wire act.
