The Teza hip circle on beam should be an H or I, it is that difficult and requires an enormous flexibility, strength and speed...she was highly underrated as an athlete, and despite winning the 1997 American Cup, her skills were poorly credited in the new scoring system...there is a reason she was the only person to perform it, it is so damn difficult!!!
@jboww21213 жыл бұрын
That’s quite high. The acrobatics is impressive but not too crazy for professional gymnasts. The fact that you aren’t really having to “land” it on the 4 inch beam makes it look extremely difficult. But I think the reason most gymnasts don’t do it is bc it looks like it freakin hurts!!

@@hannahwalmer1124 Are you blind??? A Teza on beam is incredibly difficult, a layout step out allows the athlete to land with the beam in full view, the Teza the athlete has to grab the beam like the korbut on bars but with a full twist and immediately perform the free hip, that is mixing a mukhina into immediate Shapo on the same bar...but with a beam which isn't exactly the easiest thing to perform a free him around...very few athletes have that kind of flexibility anymore while every elite does a lay-out full at least in training!!!

It should really only be an F or, at max, a G.

It's definitely difficult but I think an H or I is a bit too high. Maybe a G at the most

The way i knew it was the Teza❤ Either way i'm not sure if it's worth doing that move anymore, even with a proper rating. Aside from the long term damage you'll put your belly in, the form deductions could be brutal. Much respect to Teza for doing that move in the perfect 10 system!
@donaldholderdoc29103 жыл бұрын
Your last sentence is exactly what I was thinking before you said it. PAINFUL 😣 I bet Elvire had more than one occasion practicing this is skill when done had bruises across her hips and/of stomach. A lesser talented athlete could knock out some teeth to. I agree it should be valued higher. At least a G. 🙂 ps. I was at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics in 1996 but don't remember seeing her.

All of her skills are so original. Like her Pak Salto from a jam/inverse (IDK what it's called) is also insanely difficult.

I have followed WAG since 1972.....and some of the changes haven't been good ones. Everyone now does the same 3-4 vaults, BB is composed of the same acro moves and arm flapping that passes for dance ( a few actually manage a real dance move or two ) and bars are the same elements as well. The only difference is the order in which the moves are made. Might as well bring back the compulsory routines because thats exactly what today's routines look like. The CoP is largely responsible because originality and artistry are not rewarded. If I wanted to watch just acro skills, I'd watch trampoline gymnastics and tumbeling. But I think anything with "Artistic" in it's formal name should have some of that element in it.
@fredrika273 жыл бұрын
I have said the same thing! When I say that Simone needs to clean up her routines, stop stepping out of bounds and add dance elements to her routine, people turn rabid and say I am disrespecting Simone's gymnastics! Like you I watched Olga Korbet and Nellie Kim back in 1972. Those gymnasts knew how to dance and bring together their tumbling with artistry. They were also very original. CoP has taken that away with everyone training for the high rated skills and very few training for the artistry. When they do, they are told not to wear stage make up or "costume" leotard that makes them stand out and make not only the judges, but the audience take notice.

Also agreed Margaret. I’ve been following gymnastics since 1988 and could not agree more. Acro skills are far more highly valued now than dance skills, and often it seems that ‘dance’ is just a couple of arm waves thrown in to meet the requirements. Such a shame. I find the men’s gymnastics far more artistic, graceful and varied than the women’s nowadays. Kohei’s form and lines were second to none, the sheer power, control and variation of skill was superb. A joy to watch. A shame that seems to have been lost in women’s. We seem to have completely lost the joy in variation of skill in women’s now. Only the most powerful skills are rewarded, and how many can be performed in one routine. There is no story, no line, no musicality and no variation. As you say, it may as well be compulsories.

I don’t like this skill. The feet when separating always looked a mess to me unfortunately. If someone was able to attempt this and clean up the leg/feet form perhaps I’d be more receptive to it. The Amanar vault started off with rough beginnings too and that has since evolved. So maybe it could happen with the Teza too.

Looks difficult, to say the least, but to me it's kind of ungainly as shown here. If done with perfect form it'd make a much better impression. As always, I'd rather seen any skill done artistically than a difficult move done with poor form. But I give the gymnast a perfect 10 for bravery!

Can I just say what needs to be said. This is ARTISTIC gymnastics! Meaning it has to lend itself to making the human body look beautiful WHILE doing difficult skills. I understand there are different body types and not everyone has Nastia’s or Riley’s toe point but, many artistic gymnasts don’t understand body lines and ART. For the last while (aside from a few exceptions) all we’ve been seeing is gymnastics without the artistic components the sport was created for.
@ctruth6185 Жыл бұрын
You've had your say and of course, it doesn't have much value. Teza's line was superb as seen in her UB work, VT & her FX exhibited amazing artistry. She was quite underrated & always underscored. Nastia could never do her skills.
@benrobinson773 жыл бұрын
I doubt anyone would even attempt the Teza 1 because noone can do it without that horrible leg split ... even her. The judges would likely crucify for it, and rightfully so. Not to mention twisting cooked. It's likely not worth doing.

I miss the originality of skills with every apparatus. They all look the same after the mount, it get monotonous & boring after a while. Yes, there is the difference in the way they perform the skill but they're still the same skills I'm hoping with the new turn rules we'll get some originality & not everyone doing the same turns & full routines. That was for beginners, having compulsories.

That Teza skill is of full of wow factor! That is what's missing in gymnastics. Olga Korbut took gymnastics by storm & became its first real global superstar. Because she had that wow factor in all of her work. Nobody cared about Ludmilla Tourisheva, who won the all around and had the artistry. The innovator smokes the artist every time. Art needs innovation to be appreciated. Innovation is artistic.
