Yes, you showcased the JLC Master Grand Reveil! It's at 28:53 for anyone who isn't familiar with the piece. I almost never see this watch mentioned in the collector community, which is a travesty becasue it's such an amazing set of complications. A fun fact is that it shares the Kurt Klaus perpetual calendar from IWC. I fell in love with this watch 14 years ago, but couldn't afford the near $30k MSRP. Fast forward to 2022 and I picked one up pre-owned for significantly less. I think it's near impossible to get more value for money than with this watch. It rarely leaves my wrist these days.

What is a minute repeater ?
@MarcoFerranteWatches Жыл бұрын
A minute repeater is a watch that chimes the time audibly. There are different types of repeaters such as quarter repeaters which chimes the minutes in 15min intervals, decimal repeaters which chimes the minutes in 10min intervals and so on. There are also different functions that can chime different time settings and also things like supersonneries which chime the time louder while on wrist. But basic gist, repeating watches chime the time audibly 😁👍

What imho is missing with the Tourbillon story is that originally it was made for pocket watches that were sitting in one position whole day. Wrist watches are moving around and really do not need the tourbillon. In a wrist watch it really is showing off. Nice shows though sometimes!
@jollyjoker6340 Жыл бұрын
I'm also thinking you can easily adjust a watch to be accurate if it's actually kept in the same position 24/7. The trouble comes when you want the same accuracy if you turn it 90 degrees.
@MarcoFerranteWatches Жыл бұрын
Yes we've discussed this before in videos. Technically, tourbillons are outdated due to the constant motion of one's wrist. But it is still a very historical complication and I find it to be the most visually stunning complication there is 😁🙌

A view from the UK. Just gotta say that this and similar videos you present are the more interesting to me that your normal office jibba-jabba. He knows his onions does Marco. Full of information on horology in general as well as brand specific, but....the F.P. Journe Octa Calendar is advertised for £340,000 here in the UK. To me that is a silly price to have hanging on your wrist, (see Charles LeClerc's Richard Mille robbery) AND way out of the general watch collectors league. Not many of us have the equivalent of a 2bed condo to lock away in a safe not earning interest. BTW., i do not see football players, (c)rap singers etc., as "general".. Or am i the one out of step? As i say, i enjoy watching your videos - their history, their exquisite construction, their complication and you have taught me much, but i have come to realise you never touch on either the functionality of wearing a watch like this day to day - is it rugged, durable? - or the jewellery aspect. Take for example the Rolex "Rainbow" is it called? To me it is a pretty womans bracelet with an inconvenient watch face in the middle of it. What i am trying to articulate is the perennial discussion of "Form & Function". BTW., the MB&F twin chronograph is an absolute work of art - both form & function. Any engineer knowing his craft would bow to it.
