✅ The Crazy Capable Japanese Mini Fire Truck! Daihatsu Hijet Walk Around and Specs

Here's my mini fire truck from Japan, a 2000 Daihatsu Hijet truck that is outfitted with fire hose, pump, axe, lights, siren, loudspeaker, CB radio, ladder, etc. I give a tour of the truck and some basic specs about it. Its a very neat vehicle that was imported to the US after being decommissioned by a fire station in Japan. These trucks have a 5-speed manual trans hooked up to a H/L range transfer case with push button selectable 4wd. Its a 660cc engine making about 50 hp. I bought my truck from dougstrucks.com

As a retired fire chief if I had it I would put a 150 gal tank, use same pump with 3/4 inch fire hose. It's a nice truck

@@NaterTater Japanese import American cars from the United States. Americans import Japanese cars from Japan. It is a strange coincidence. American police cars are popular in Japan. The downside is that they run out of fuel quickly.

If you don't mind me asking, what state are you in? Im trying to figure out how operate one of these in CA. I noticed that you have that orange farm vehicle triangle on the back. Have you ever been hassled by law enforcement for driving on public roads? I live in a small rural town so I think I could probably do the same thing. I'd just hate for it to get impounded because I'd never be able to get it back since it's unregisterable in CA.

I'd make it but plan on driving 55mph and frequent stops... I think my fire truck has a 5gal gas tank.

I bought my Suzuki fire engine five years ago in Colorado and shipped it to Eastern North Carolina. The longest road trip I have made is about 50 miles which was a real ordeal! I use a small trailer for longer trips. 55mph is scary and that 660cc engine is working awfully hard at that speed.
