To this moment, I cannot believe how tens of tons of iron blocks can fly in the air. Oh my God, it is unbelievable. In my opinion, it is the best invention, or rather the best industry in all of history. By payload it's the An-124, by dimensions it's the Galaxy (marginally). They're quite equal in size though.

on takeoff altitudes are not called out like they are in landing

That did seem odd. But maybe the military opts to have altitude callout on takeoff because some missions are on short runways with nearby obstacles that need to be cleared.

Congratulations! You've won the 'Lame comment award' Well over a HUNDRED THOUSAND Afghans were airlifted. Not one of those ONBOARD was 'thrown out of the sky'. The few deaths which did occur were Afghans so panicked about the Taliban taking over that they clung to the landing gear. It was tragic that it occurred, but your comment is dumb. Normally, the Air Force would be able to prevent civilians surging on to an air field. That last day was anything but normal.

That is its gross tonnage. Its payload is 135 tons That's not quite enough to transport two M1 sep 3 Abrams main battle tanks (~71+ tons each). Consequently, one goal of the M1's future replacement is to lose a few tons.

Antonov 225 Mriya, unfortunately destroyed in 2022 at Sebastopol Airport, so I guess the C5 Galaxy is now the worlds largest freighter!
