In the city where I come from, marry to a Shanghainese girl is a big thing, big enough to have all the family members to convince you better not to lol. It is just a stereotype of course, but it happens.🤣 And I like your mother in law saying "Why doesn't the government dig it for you", very Shanghainese indeed.

In 1991 I drove through Slovakia from Hungary to Poland. I was stopped by some crooked police officers and accused of speeding. I did not have their currency so they took my passport and forced me to drive to a nearby bank to get cash. They fined me 300 but when I returned they had gone and were replaced by some other crooked policemen. They asked me how much I had been fined. I said 200. They took that, did not give me a receipt but returned our passports. When we arrived at the Polish border we told the guards, and they said we have been receiving complaints all day. On my return to the UK I complained to the Slovakian Consul and the returned my money.

Funny stories about ur wedding. Most Chinese women searching for stability for a family incl in financial aspect. It's not all about materialistic but just being honest to reality in life. But ur wife certainly a great woman for sure. Hope you both happy and success in career.... Therefore you two can prove those who badmouthing you both r wrong.

I love the Bund in Shanghai since young. It was the Paris of the East. Shanghainese girls, I see China has many beautiful girls. Northeastern girls are a different slightly, in accent and physicality. But all share the invaluable Chinese traditional values. Of course, all people love money and security for their daughter.

Not all the Chinese parents are like that. Most of them still believe in true love. Not Shanghainese though. But of course, not all Shanghainese are like that.

I suggest you don’t talk your family issues here on KZbin especially about your mother-in-law,if you do,don’t ever let her know that you make videos about her,and talk culture shock,for her,you are just her son in law,and Chinese have this tradition that don’t talk family issues in public.

@@chirots You think this way,but what about his mother in law and their family members probably won’t think like this,and they won’t be happy to let the strangers talk their family issues,that’s just my suggestion,if their family is ok with this,then no problem at all,otherwise they will have arguments on these things for sure. I’m Chinese,this is Chinese culture,we don’t like to show our family issues to strangers and for them to talk. But again,if their family members are ok with this,then that’s good.

There is an old saying in China literally for thousands of years “家丑不可外扬”means family issues should not be talked in public. But again,if their family is ok,then not my problem. Make sure you always ask their permission before you make it public.
