Really nice work! Im a stone worker , I have all the polishing tools you. Id like to try it my self. Question, I have sheet copper from a house demo , it's fairly thick , is that copper food grade? is there a difference in food grade and copper used for building? If Im not heating it up should I care?
@ChristCenteredIronworks3 жыл бұрын
There is differences but nothing that would effect it's ability to cook food in... But you will need to tin line the items if they're to cook in

@@ChristCenteredIronworks thanks for your response. Im gona crank up the coal stove and do a winter project in the shop. I wont be doing anything with food. Just making a L.Z . for the keys.

Isn't copper is different to steel in its quenching? Quenching actually softens the metal but to harden you heat to red glow and let it cool naturally..........totally opposite to steel right?

Do you put feet on your bowls or do you leave it round???. Thanks for the video and good bless you and your family

Most of the time I leave them round. I have done feet once before. And sometimes customers request a flat in the bottom.

Really nice video and even nicer bowl! Really enjoyed it! I would like to try forging something and can't afford an anvil yet (still 16), is a flat piece of metal good enogh for starters?
@quirlmaster90116 жыл бұрын
To start out a flat piece of steel is certanly enough. It may miss some of the 'shapes' you find on an anvil like a horn or hardy hole, but you can absolutely start smithin.

Hand forged refers to the forming/shaping of the bowl in general.

But take care brother / friend! Copper and brass utensils should never be used with sour lemon tamrind vinegar curd etc . substances. Chemical process is harmful to the body if used for kitchen . For that one has to do a special coating. Similarly, copper and brass utensils should never be used for milk curd buttermilk etc. But you cannot use it with lemon tamrind vinegar curd etc and any other sour chemicals. Copper utensils cannot be used in the kitchen because the chemical process of lemon tamrind curd etc and + copper happens quickly, it is harmful for the body. In India, copper utensils are used only for drinking water and only for cooking plain rice. lemon vinegar tamrind curd Vinegar etc .used to clean copper utensils. same way Brass utensils are used for cooking but that also used after special coating for copper and brass pots. you can see youtube video available how coating inside done using chemicals in India, and that also you have to regularly coat as per your use , how many times you use that pots.
