I love seeing that Ableton it backing school programs. As a child I was exposed to basic piano classes that got me interested in doing more in music. I don't think I would have the love I have without that exposure to music at an early age. Also having that basic understanding of music theory has been beneficial to me. While I do understand that traditional teaching does have it's purpose let's be honest it's boring unless you were exposed to classical music at an early age. I love seeing programs that engage you in popular music and allow you to learn how to make your own music. Not every kid will want to make music a career. It's a creative outlet to enhance creativity. I hope to see more of these types of programs and companies reaching out to the education systems. I see it as a win win because those kids will become future consumers.

When I started playing piano back in the early 90's I was introduced to the "do's and don't" of music creation. When I questioned why I can't do something I was told that it simply would not sound right and people will laugh at you. Music is from the heart and soul and just because one person finds your creation to be annoying or odd there will be others who adore your works. Just make music and don't get to wrapped up in the rules of the old guard.

It's great that Ableton is supporting this. Digital Music Creation belongs in schools or with Kids education and I've been working on an open source sequencer/mixer that I hope to develop with a suite of midi controllers produced as a not for profit with a crowd funding financing model to keep it cheap as possible. There are more than enough schools that can afford mature professional products like Ableton but there are too many schools that can't afford the pro models and those students need a path into digital music that isnt ripped software and unreliable controllers.

Keith Swanick is spreading a new form of musical education based on a methodology called C(L)A(S)P where Composition is the first and most important thing for learning music. Yes! Very cool video, Ableton. I spent some time doing work like this a few years ago and it's incredibly rewarding helping people to find their musical voice. I'm glad these kids are getting to do that with Ableton Live, not being forced to use something that could drive them away from music tech (like Pro Tools?) The one thing with that video was hearing about the difficulties with budgets and next shot there's a room full of iMacs. I get that there's Apple hardware in every studio, but kids shouldn't see that as a barrier to entry - they need to know that it's still possible to be just as creative and innovative with a crappy old laptop, a copy of Live Intro and free VSTs.

No mater how awesome such projects are, in most cases they are one time projects. After a while they get closed due to financial reasons. What I'm missing is some form of commitment by schools or governments to fund and support creative careers from low income areas. Amazing work from all teachers, it's so beautiful the job of spreading knowledge, and more so when it's something so introspective like making music. You guys deserve all the respect in the world. I've got in contact with electronic music when I started university, before that I played traditional instruments too, but I never really felt comfortable with the traditional ways of learning music, so I quickly got discouraged. I think of how helpful and time-saving would have been to have an electronic music class in high school. Congrats to all the team in Ableton too, this kind of content is really amazing.

We need synchronization with scale support either with Melodyne or with a new program invented like VariAudio 3 as it is done in Cubase 11 and Studio One 5 This is simply necessary for most musicians, since in order to edit the pitch of the vocals, we have to run another DAW... Do it and you will have no equal, just LISTEN FOR ONCE

This a great effort and Kudos to Ableton on reporting those people contributing to the community and young kids future. But I still do not understand how we are in 2021 and Ableton has excluded the option of music notation (still to-date the most detailed representation of music), but it is solely a naive midi roll DAW. If we consider Ableton Live the DAW-instrument of the next generation's main education, maybe this is something Albeton should rethink and finally introduce.

I think the important part is that kids are shown that isn't just classical performance but that they can make music that THEY love too. Not to say that they don't like classical or operas, they might, but you reach kids with other things first, let them fall in love with medium and then expand their horizons.
