De Cecco got that Jokic build.

De Cecco is far from the athleticism of setters like Christenson or Gianelli but he makes up for it with his intelligent plays and accurate setting. To be honest, his sets don't even look very pretty but he's always on the mark and very deceptive.

Can someone help me understand that rotation at 4:07

Normally in Rotation 1, the Fromt Row Outside Passes for the Setter in the Back Right (Zone 1). In this Serve Receive Formation the Opposite and the Front Row Outside “Stay 1”. This means the Opposite will Hit on the Left-side (Zone 4) and the Outside will Hit on the Right-Side (Zone 2) for 1 Play. When the ball goes over the net, they Switch into their Base Positions. 4:07 Though, they’ve moved the Front Row Outside into the Middle for Serve Receive. So now the libero is covering the Setter. This itself has the benefits of keeping All Hitters Available if the Serve targets the Setter’s Path. A Libero can commit to the pass and not worry about transitioning to Hit. In a Normal Rotation 1, Serving the Front Row Outside can achieve 1 or 2 things. 1, you take Hitter out of the Play and Unable to Hit comfortably. 2, you obstruct the Path of the Setter. Their modified Rotation 1 Prevents this. Secondly, it allows the Hitters to move into their Base Positions immediately instead of After Playing the Ball. This can affect Matchups with the Blocks, Defensive Positioning, Split Second Decisions that were originally Predetermined. The only negative of their Rotation is the Rules of Rotation. Similarly to Rotation 3 Serve Receive where the Front Row Outside cant be to the Left of the Middle or Behind the Back-row Middle: In their Rotation 1, their Outside cant be to the left of the Middle, or Behind the Libero. Leading to a sort of M-Shaped Serve Receive Formation until the Serve is Contacted. Though to make up for this, I’m sure they have Terrific Passers.

@ yeah, but the LS in 2 is passing in 6. What strategic advantage is there to running your right side from 4 to 2 when on offense?
