David McCallum was also the character 'Steel' in 'Sapphire & Steel' which was a pretty far-out , metaphysical/supernatural sci-fi TV show on British TV in the late 70's, his partner agent 'Sapphire' was splayed by Joanna Lumley, it was often confusing and overly clever, but it definitely had a certain unique oddness to it that makes it worth investigating.

Absolutely a shame that The Creator completely bombed. A beautifully shot movie with good performances and an original IP deserves so much better than 32M world wide and 14M in the US. Hopefully it gets some sort of second wind and picks it up a bit because a movie like this deserves better.

The writers strike resolutions are great but definitely still worrying to me. The terms only last until 2026. Which means the studios are probably going to spend the next 3 years gearing up, refining ai, and getting a big stockpile of content so they are prepped for a much bigger fight on their terms. Still great news but the fight is not won.

Exactly, obviously maybe there's little kids only know kids movies, but with the sheer amount of media out there, it's impossible for people to not be aware of the other stuff, certainly not enough people to comprise an entire generation. If Star Wars couldn't blind a generation to the rest of cinema, then neither can superhero movies lol

If I understand the WGA strike, the AI stuff is a way of banning AI without actually banning it. A studio can’t use AI but a writer can so long as the studio approves it. No way a studio is going to pay writer prices for AI work so it seems like it won’t get approved very often
@Dorian_sapiens
@Dorian_sapiens Жыл бұрын
To me, it looks less like any attempt to ban it and more like trying to put the workers in control of how it's used. You might be right about studios not wanting to approve it, though.
@MicoDossun
@MicoDossun Жыл бұрын
@@Dorian_sapiens I could be entirely misreading it but I saw three rules 1) Studios are not allowed to use it in place of paid writers 2) Paid writers are allowed to use it at jobs that have allowed it so long as they properly report that they’ve used it 3) everything the writers submit is taken at the same pay rate even if it’s written with AI So first and foremost yes it says AI can’t be a replacement for writers but it also says that companies have to approve that all AI work is paid for at the same pay rate as work by a real person with a real brain. So in most scenarios if they’re already paying a writer, I imagine that they would want to get the most out of their money.

On the chance the person starting a podcast reads this I have to echo the idea of having some sort of structure. Obviously rambling and going off on tangents is part of the fun of a podcast, but one KZbin channel I follow switched to a more "freeform" structure with no timestamps and they are just not talented enough for me to sit through it all just to hear their opinions on a certain topic. Not to mention they stream it so they have to shout out all the donations and stuff, it's become kind of unwatchable.

Hey the Creator budget doesn't add up, by like 60 million...I happen to live in Thailand and A: 200k could 10k/week pay for a crew of 4 to fly to, shoot for a month fed and beds per location, anywhere. 80 months is over 6 and a half years, and their "different locations" were probably different spots at the same national park or adjacent to the last shoot, no way they spent more than a year doing primary filming, so crew costs would be 15% of a 6.5 year project. That's 10 million extra just claiming 200k x 80 sites. B: All the surrounding southeast Asian countries are even cheaper. C: 80x200k=16mil. They used a $4000 camera, edited themselves? A couple million on fixed edits CG, a couple million for actors...20 million. 🤔 Just saying...some fluffery in that budget, or they paid way too much on CG (coulda done that in Thailand cheap too) and actors, there's so much talent in the actor's guild that'd give you awesome performances for a million dollars.
