i like these videos man. i bought the mini gage holder that you maDE and its holding up fine. Defiantly not worthless

Bahaha, "definitely not worthless" I love it.

This is another reason I'm considering the Toco Moto GET ECU with wifi. You can use their dashboard to show info in real time on a phone. I think they chose wifi because it can transfer more information quickly.

Great Video! Question - I purchased the connector / harness and and ELM unit but doesnt seem to fit any of my connectors on my 2023 CRF-300l Rally. Did they change the harness or connectors?

There might be some placement differences from the rally to non-rally. I would check out the wiring diagram between the two in case there's a difference.

The 300L dash was never gonna work on 450RL, it's incompatible on many parts. 450L has analog dash, where it has separate analog inputs for overtemp signal, used fuel impulses etc. It does not have tacho input for RPM pulses as it does not have tach feature. ECU also does not have tacho output to provide RPM pulses. 300L dash has only "check engine" analog input. Pin "tacho" in your schematics is actually digital K-line on which the ECU sends digital messages containing RPM, fuel usage, temperature/overtemp in similar format as used on diagnostic port. Your 450L ECU does not send these digitally. Wheel speed sensor seems to be inductive coil type (2-wire providing weak analog wave) on 450L while 300L has Hall type sensor (3-wire providing 0V/12V pulses). Not electrically compatible. Fuel gauge won't work too because 300L has float with variable resistance in the tank like in a car, while 450L has reserve level sensor (most likely magnetic switch in a tube with sliding magnetic float ring).

Just wondering, would it ever be possible to get a fuel gauge to work? Because the bike stock only has a low fuel light, I'd think all it has in the tank is a low fuel sensor. I think you'd have to design and install some sort of more sophisticated fuel level sensor to make a fuel gauge work. As far as that goes, getting the IMS tank in white would be easier, unless you're an electrical engineer or something like that! Also, is there any particular reason you attempted to make the CRF300L dash work instead of a Trailtech unit of some sort? I had a Trailtech Vapor on a CRF250RX and it was quite good. Of course, it didn't have the fuel gauge or idiot lights, but had the tach, temperatures, speedometer/odometer, hour meter, lap timer, etc. I might some day add a Trailtech Voyager with all those things plus an integrated GPS with maps.

Trail tech is known to work and pretty universal across a lot of bikes. This all stemmed from a curiosity about swapping for a factory Honda dashboard and at first my question to Honda was "why not give the 450RL the same dash as the 300L?" But I did find that despite some similarities in the wiring, as you noted the 450RL's sensors are more rudimentary and standalone. The 300L/Grom wiring have secondary wires for almost every sensor that trace back to the ECU, so when I attach a 300L dash to such a basic wiring harness, it doesn't have enough info to give a reading. But now I know for sure!
