I still think that Guy's whole arc works here because the Bettermens were actively manipulating him into seeing this as a physical paradise (after YEARS of grueling traveling in the prehistoric wilderness) and while not weaponized against The Croods, the first movie did show Guy quite irritated by their Cave Ways. Guy doesn't NOT accept Eep but at the same time he's kinda like "I accept you, just, I'm different, we're all differnet, keep that part separate from us, okay?" The whole end of the movie is just him finally realizing it doesn't matter WHERE they are it's not about having a perfect place it's about sharing the perfect experience together. An emotional paradise.

In early drafts of this Croods sequel, Dawn looked less like a Disney character and more like a prehistoric goth girl. A bunch of stuff was changed in the story where it was close to being canned but was picked up by a new director who'd later direct Puss in Boots The Last Wish.
