The casting for William was spot on in this season of the show! What did you interpret from the final shot? The end of The Queen or the fact she had a fruitful 17 years? Comment your thoughts below!

I thought it was kind of dumb given she had a lot of time left on the throne, unlike if they had finished the story when she actually died. There was certainly enough material. But I guess she didn't know how much time she had left so she was just contemplating her death.

The actual ending was kind of anti climatic. I wish they would have showed real footage of the late QEII. Maybe they did not want to break the fourth wall by doing so, or confuse viewers.

Just finished it, and I would say I think it would've been better to put the VE day scenes at the last episode, this way we would feel how young Elizabeth was when she gave up the girl she was for the crown. Also the episode where her sister dies I think was written the best out of the part 2 episodes
@pam0626

@@sunnybee9453 I agree. The Margaret episode was the best of the second part. To me, the love story between Elizabeth and Margaret was the heart of the entire series. Peter Morgan could have taken the more popular route of giving the entire storyline over to William & Kate; happy to see he gave Margaret a standalone episode.

William's casting: spot on, but not Harry's! Although a good actor, I was thrown out of it when Harry was on screen. As far as the ending, it was most likely an honor to the actual Elizabeth dying while this season was in production.

I LOVED how this ended! The very end when Philip talks about where they will end up and then he says "I'll leave you to it. Say one for me" before walking away, is so symbolic of his departure before hers. As the queen leaves the chapel and makes the too-long walk toward the door, I saw that as her journey over the next 17 years with the pearly gates waiting for her at the end, but the overall shot, the angle, the sun coming in. was symbolic of her, the head of the Church of England, is entering the kingdom of heaven. I also liked the subtle departure of Margaret at the front gates of the palace. So, well done!

I thought they were realistic and relatable - the unwillingness of Margaret to give up her life's pleasures and to die as she had lived, rebelliously. The bath scene was horrific but realistic and made me think that for all her privilege and wealth, she couldn't escape pain and suffering.

Note that at Charles’ wedding- William wore a white rose and Harry wore a red rose. Reminiscent of War of the Roses between the two Royal factions - York (white) and Lancastrian (red). There was also mention of past Royal fratricide 😮

I thought the second part was pretty boring overall. The more interesting things happened after they ended it! I also don't like how they painted Kate and her mother as scheming her entire life to put her around William in hopes that they would be together. Changing universities to go where William was going and purposefully going to the same places during their gap year. I have never heard anything like that! It made the whole thing very creepy and much less like a love story! William also did not know he wanted to be with Kate since the first time he saw her! They were friends for years before it became a romantic relationship. I think they also made Harry look a lot more hostile to William than he was at the time. I'm sure they had brotherly fights but it seems like they were trying to project their relationship now as how it mostly was back then as well.

I would not say that the second part was "boring". Actually some storylines were quite moving (for me) and a sweet tribute to the QUEEN and her family bonds. The storyline I did not like at all, though, was the one of William and Katherine. Here, I am totally with you! I do not understand how it was necessary to turn events upside down, just to support some odd conspiracy-theories. NOT SMART!

As I watched "William", I realized how unusual it is that the real life person is more good-looking than the actor. Usually, actors are so much more attractive than the people they play. No offense to the actor, he's a nice looking lad, but William at age was absolutely DREAMY!

Just finished Season 6. Personally, it was one of the best. The last 25 years of Elizabeth II's reign were a series of losses: Diana and Charles' marriage, Diana's death; deaths of Princess Margaret, Queen Mother then Prince Philip; Prince Andrew's scandal with Epstein, and losing her relationship with Harry. I think Netflix showed what a remarkable and strong woman she was. I cried every episode beginning with Princess Margaret. Diana's death was memorable but somehow it didn't make as much an impression. I do feel the royal family were right to try and protect the princes from the public. They were so young and shouldn't have been pressured by the public to make their grief part of the show. Growing up under that kind of scrutiny must be absolutely miserable.
@wendyturney8914
@wendyturney8914 Жыл бұрын
The RF are always under pressures that are difficult to understand. Those who marry into it have to be very special people and many of them cannot do it. William was so careful, he dated Catherine for a long time and gave her many opportunities to back out, but once married he has been a loyal, loving and supportive husband who has encouraged her to be her own person, as well as a princess. Catherine wanted to live in a small home and always be close to where her children were at school. Catherine likes to holiday with her mum and dad and she continues to be artistic, musical and sporty while developing her charity work towards early childhood interests. She supports William and all his extended family 100% but also leads her own life as a mother and most of those who went before her could not achieve this.

Season 6 was a bit disappointing to me. It was unbelievable to see how they portrait KC , as an affectionate and compassionate ex- husband and father. All the hugging and crying over Diana’s death, 🤮. He doesn’t seem as an affectionate person, let alone an affectionate father. They show him kissing and hugging his sons, ugh. Yet, he yanked security from his son and grandchild, not caring if they were safe or not. The portrayal of The Queen and Tony Blair was spot on. The Diana portrayal was also very good.
@wendyturney8914
@wendyturney8914 Жыл бұрын
Charles was rather shy and quiet as a little boy and his own mother was often absent on long overseas royal tours. He was sent to Gordonstoun School which he hated and we can assume that he did not have an affectionate childhood. He was brought up never "to complain or explain" and it is only with the arrival of Camilla as his wife, Catherine (commoners) and grandchildren that he now feels relaxed enough to show his feelings. It is not surprising that he did not bond with his other daughter-in-law whose whole life appears to always be a "performance" and Harry's treatment of his grandparents at the end of their lives was despicable. I don't think any member of the RF will ever again feel comfortable in Harry's presence, they will always fear that they will be reading about it later. Charles must feel deperate about Harry's life choices but is probably powerless to do anything about it without harming the rest of his family and the monarchy. He won't do this.
@Oracle09
@Oracle09 Жыл бұрын
@@wendyturney8914 no need to explain or sell KC and Camilla to me my dear, I am as old the Queen’s reign. The Queen was and exceptional person, I liked her a lot. As for KC petty behavior towards his grandson, there is no excuse. I am a grandmother, enough said. KC is not desperate about Harry choices, he worried about Harry outshining him. Harry made very good choices; he chose the welfare and safety of his family. As for Camilla, she never arrived, she has always been there . First, as an obstacle to his first marriage and second, as his Queen.

@@Oracle09 Good choices? He took drugs, wore a Nazi uniform to a party, witnessed the lies told by his wife, wouldn't speak to his mum on the last occasion he could, would not visit his grandmother during his final visit of her reign, wrote Spare (told us all about his todger, how many Talliban he shot, losing his virginity, etc.) he is now on a media attack frenzy which he says he will spend the rest of his life doing and will never be able to move forward from, rejected his UK family, never met his father-in-law, said he wants privacy but then does everything to remain in the limelight, says he is concerned about the planet but flies everywhere by private jet. He has also managed to put himself in the position of not knowing where his real home is, he says he wants a base in the UK but has managed to upset most of his friends and all of his family here. Since he left the UK he and his US family have moved around a lot and despite saying he wants to "do good things" he hasn't achieved very much. To me the last scene and the symbolism of the end of the crown and the Queens life actually began when Prince Philip watched the Queen pass through the door and downed his champagne. It was so touching because to me from that moment it signified the meeting of Prince Phillip and the late Queen after her death. Like he was waiting for her....I'll explain. Watching her pass through the door, I think, symbolises the moment they met on the other side. Why? Because in the Chapel he remarks again...there you are and she retorts...yes here i still am. Then after they discuss her reign and charles succession he says 'I'll leave you to it" you could see on her face she was devastated. To me his leaving the room symbolises passing before his wife. When the Piper starts playing not long after I think she realises she has actually passed and once he finishes she passes by her casket. IRL this could be the end of her funeral service. The re-emergence of her previous iterations shown in black are symbolic of mourning which signifies that the Queen is now ready to cross over. And then does. The last episode to me appears to be the Queen watching her life flash before her eyes in a way and if you watch closely when there are photos at Charles and Camillas wedding there is a moment where the Queen ...becomes present..... and looks around almost like she didn't realise where she was. I think this is the moment she passed on and the significance of her spirit returning to that moment in time is to signify that Charles and Camilla are now King and Queen. Watch it again. And again lol.

The media have always attacked the RF, they did the same to Catherine as well. These days the RF tend to negotiate with the media and to their credit the agreements are mostly honoured. H is still battling with the media for things they were guilty of a long time ago and for which most have apologised and settled - one settlement of a large sum of money was given in it's entirety to the Invictus Games. All he can hope for now is further large settlement sums for damage done but it isn't going to change anything. H's image will be damaged in the process and I doubt if it will help his mental health issues because in spending his life attacking the media he is having to keep his perceived damage always to the forefront of his thoughts. He needs to move forward and concentrate on his children and his life in the US or he will never find happiness.
