Yeah you make a good point, these panthers are getting old. My marauder was in rough shape when I bought it. Doing a frame off on it now cause I’ll probably never sell it.

My intake lasted til around 125. One day I just started getting misfires. Changed spark plugs - still missing - new coils - still missing. Then I noticed one of the spark plugs was full of coolant. Yep - intake cracked. Took me 4 hours to replace. The job itself is not hard. I imagine if someone went to a shop they would charge like 1,000$ to do that job.

At the end of the day that was your experience I have an 06 p71 since 2018 and the only thing I've replaced was the thermostat 🙄

I’ve owned over 10 of these cars, my experience has been similar with most of them. I love these cars, but to buy one and expect to never have any issues is unrealistic. 👍

@@papo862 absolutely right. Things break on any vehicle. So many people buy these cars thinking they’re indestructible machines and never break, and I just wanna make sure people realize that when looking into these cars.

@@DirtyDanMunicipalMan totally understand, have you noticed the prices these cars are going for now compared to a couple years ago 😲

@@papo862 it’s absolutely crazy! I bought this one for $2200 in 2019 and now a car in this same condition would be like $3500 or more.

Rear axle seal on passenger side started leaking around 110. I left it for the time being because it was winter time and I wasn’t going to mess with it in below 0 temps. 3 months later I started getting noise in the bearing. Tried changing it and planetary gear was messed up. Wasn’t going to rebuild the axle. Ended up getting a junkyard axle for 150. Took me 3 days to change it thanks to rusty bolts. Again, a job like that at a shop you are looking at 1,000$+ for labor.

Yes sir. I did my rear axle bearings and seals last year, and other than my time And fluid it was less then $100 to do myself if not cheaper

@@DirtyDanMunicipalManI waited too long because it was winter snow on the ground, wasn’t going to mess with it. Ended up changing the whole differential took me 3 days to do it. Easily a 1500$ job or more

I appreciate it. I really do love these cars but some folks out there have some unrealistic expectations of these vehicles.

I recommend if someone wants a panther, find an elderly one owner civilian model with low miles. Avoid the cop cars unless you know how to fix stuff!
