Of course these were visions and no doubt our precious Lord Jesus did suffer agony more than any human can fathom. The physical sufferings of Christ were great and no exaggeration is therein expressed. However, what of the emotional, mental and even spiritual torments that our Savior endured in our behalf as He died that most awful death. Yet, He died as the Blessed Lamb of God for our salvation and what is the other great truth of the gospel, is that He not only was in the grave but rose on the third day as He said He would. What an amazing and glorious gospel of the wonderful work of redemption for us rebels and lost sinners. I grew up thinking much of Jesus on the cross and the stations of the cross, which I treasure. Although, I did not understand the resurrection of Jesus from the dead until I received the divine illumination of the resurrection of Jesus from the dead as told on the gospel accounts. I was 17 years old when that revelation dawned upon my heart. It is all glorious, every facet of this gospel story. The Apostles' Creed says it all completely, from the death of our Jesus to His glorious enthronement at the Father Almighty's Right Hand. From thence He shall come again to judge both the living and the dead. Amen.

A couple of things have questions on. It sounds like describing a solar eclipse on his death day... The man who is talking about Jesus not the person reading it but the man who recanted the story that's being read to us. Keeps referring to Jesus as his spouse and the word spouse has always meant spouse... So what do I do with that? Also the speech he says gods and then also goes on to say he is our king. It stands within reason that this mixed Roman pagan Muslim society. Not being all that much different from American society from the standpoint of mixed religions and cultures. But it's very possible that Jesus Christ himself had the same belief system and actually would have recognized multiple gods and saw himself as a God and not necessarily the only God... I mean when you break down the holy Trinity they are all equally powerful so they would all be a form of God... I feel like this makes sense

I don't think these visions are true.... We know from the Shroud of Turin that Jesus had two nails in his feet one in the left foot and two in the right foot.. we also know that the legs of Jesus could not be undone as they had hardened and set in a bent position as was his arms hence they led the hands over his lower abdomen which was not customary to do that, they crossed at the chest in a folded position .Father Groeschel often said he did not take her writings as true.. her writings due to serious concern about the authorship of them had been "absolutely discarded" by the Vatican as part of her beatification process. so' it my be pious but we can't take them as literal...

While the Magisterium hasn’t approved these visions, they also haven’t condemned them either. I am not aware of anything in her writings that are contrary to the faith. Much of what she says echoes Scripture and Tradition. Her prophecies have not yet failed either. Certainly one doesn’t need to believe these visions in order to be a faithful Catholic but the fact that Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich’s works have been profoundly spiritually fruitful for many is indisputable.

Have you read the Dolorous Passion? If you had you’d see that Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich discusses the difficulties in precisely recalling each event along with deciphering the images which often have spiritual meaning. Feelings have nothing to do with this. If you don’t believe the visions of Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich to be true, that’s your prerogative. I will not enter into an endless debate with you on a matter that is not necessary or salvation. Whenever anyone posts something on the visions of Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich, some naysayers seem to always show up. As I’ve already said, it’s ok to either believe in the authenticity of these visions or to not believe them. The Church tells us that she led a life of holiness while not explicitly weighing in on the supernatural component of her visions. Why do some feel so strongly to condemn that which the Church has not? Taking these visions to be pious meditations is an acceptable position to take. If I may say so, if you don’t believe in these visions or find spiritual fruit in them then simply do not consume the content. Problem solved.
