🔴 The Culinary Story of Pacita “Chit” Juan, ECHOstore Owner, Coffee & Organic Advocate
Pacita “Chit” Juan has been in the coffee industry for over 25 years now, having founded a coffee shop chain in 1993, and moving to become the President of the non-stock, non-profit industry organization The Philippine Coffee Board Inc. (PCBI) in 2002 to present. She has travelled to many coffee origins in the Philippines, Southeast Asia, South and Central America and Africa as part of her advocacy in promoting Philippine coffee.
She is the founding President of the International Women’s Coffee Alliance (www.womenincoffee.org)- Philippine chapter and also sits as Vice President of the ASEAN Coffee Federation (www.aseancoffee.org).
In the culinary front she is the Southeast Asia Councillor for SLOW FOOD, one of only 47 across the globe. She has been an active member of the grass roots movement Slow Food (www.slowfood.com) since 2012.
She co-founded ECHOstore sustainable lifestyle, a retail pioneer in healthy and eco-friendly products that has an integrated FARM TO TABLE and now a TABLE TO FARM concept as she also manages a small farm in Amadeo, Cavite growing mostly medicinal herbs and local vegetables. A staunch organic advocate, she partnered with an international farmer organization NATURLAND (www.naturland.de) to promote organic consumption and production among Filipino consumers.
She has written a few books on coffee: Kape in 2002, Barako:The Big Bean in 2005 and Introduction to Coffee, later retitled The Barista Manual in 2011 and a book on Cacao: Bean to Bar 2013.
She is a strong advocate for MSMEs especially women micro entrepreneurs who she continues to mentor in various subjects like Access to Markets, Financial Literacy and even Mental Wellness.
