I went to school in Uffculme (1959-1963), was a scout with the troop in the hut behind Hobb's garage at the station, and later an army cadet. Later spent two years at the East Devon Tech in Tiverton, so was very familiar with the railways in the region.

On a side note. The steam winch or windlass call it what you will, from the dairy still exists and is at westonzoyland pumping station.

I was the last member of the public to walk along the unused tracks the other way ( from Tiverton ) the sleepers ( ties ) were made of pressed steel and the next day it was all ripped up for scrap ! ! .... DAVE™ 🛑
