I adore The Cult and I also adore the other band next to the interviewer (Blancmange). There are paradoxical instances, at least in a lot of cases, in which "extremely negative" and "harmful" music brings those vibrations you mentioned; something like a highly refined 'schadenfraude', in the sense that some Art comes from deeply disturbed individuals/experiences, that connects with people who enjoy it without even thinking of it in a malicious way.

Saw The Clut and Metallica together in Atlanta around 1988-89. The Cult was actually the headliner that night. I would say both bands were at the same level of their music careers and both on the verge to become the next rock giants. Of course we all know what level Metallica went to and personally I thought The Cult was the better of the 2 bands. And thats considering the fact that I loved Metallica in the 80s. But from that point on The Cult kinda just remained the same as Metallica exploded into one of the biggest metal bands in history. I always wonder why the Cult just fell off the map around 1990 when they seemed to be enroute to mega stardom after Electric was released. Scratching my head on this one

😲 Damn!!!! That's awesome Saw GnR in Vegas Jan 1992, one of the best shows I've ever seen in my life. Got to see The Doors w/Ian Astrbury as frontman in Vegas 2003 & it was truly incredible. Bit of would have really loved to see the Cult 💓

That's where all got his look and moves. Ian looked natural all the others looked like they copied Ian.

Yesterday it was 40 years since Death Cult made their live debut. They performed in my hometown of Oslo, Norway. I don't remember why I was there, but I was 🙂

“Your not really a commercial band”..... I think they’ve made a pretty good living!

The Cult owes me many many many speakers that blew out of my cars when I could barely afford those cars .... I'm in therapy for it so it's fine.. And I got through life listening to the music. Guess sometimes life is fair that way.

What a cocktail of characters this is ! I used to chat with Ian when he DJd at Manc University in the early 80s. Always a fine lad. I met Neil Arthur on a plane from Houston to London, early 1987. Blackburn Rovers fan ⚽️ Don’t have a story on Buster I’m afraid 😄
