The Cult is a great rock and roll band. Need to be in rock and roll hall of fame.

I see too much Jim Morrison in his vibe. Plus, his willingness to be goth, then be anything that is mainstream. Come to the conclusion he's a poseur.

What kind of a stupid question was Jay Leno asking ? Shame this Album didn't sell as well. Rise was an amazing comeback tune after their first hiatus

The whole album was fantastic, produced with Bob Rock, and criminally underappreciated.

I think Jay Leno is trying to be cool here, and falling flat on his arse ! The whole album is amazing (the bonus track "Libertine" is a stunner). Real shame The Cult's record label did a shite job on promoting the album at the time.

It was a reference to a previous segment earlier in the show. Makes no sense in this context but to the audience tuning in live it made slightly more sense. Absolutely loved this record.

Matt Sorum's taste perfectly compliments Billy and Ian. John is very good today, but Matt. Damn. The engine that drives Billy and Ian. Edit: big US corporate rock. Right back to Electric vibes. Sadly, the internal workings of Billy and Ian is they are willing to chase trends. And, I believed in them with Love.

Electric is corporate rock trash. The Cult became corporate rock poseurs with Electric. Love is iconic. Anything afterwards, catering to mainstream US rock audiences. The only way to listen to the songs from Electric is on the original Peace album. That's iconic, not that rubbish corporate rock stuff.

At this point in history , I'm gonna give anybody an "A" that ACTUALLY performs the song live on stage or on a TV program...too many took the suspiciously easy way out and just lip-synced it... to me , it means these guys have the talent and the heart to do it REAL !!!!!!

I'm amazed that Ian actually sang a song the way it was recorded..... The Cult is one of my favorite bands of all time, and IMO Ian has one of the strongest voices in a live setting.... but fuck me he butchers the phrasing of the vocal parts on nearly every song ..... its literally like he improvizes the whole concert.... been like that since Sonic temple..... It's a shame,cause one of the keys that make the Cult such a memorable band is their EPIC choruses..... thats what they do best.... and if the vocals aren't hammering it out the way it was meant to be, it really takes away from the live experience. Can you imagine if anyone else in the band took the same phrasing liberties with their respective parts????
@Benniken3 жыл бұрын
I agree.....Ever since Sonic Temple, his vocals have been going downhill steadily...

You might be happy to find that (while singing in a lower key), he did really well in of their final performances before the pandemic! kzbin.info/www/bejne/naCXpJJ4gbF2hdk

@@bloodnchocolate I'm not taking a shot at the quality and strength of his vocals.... IMO, he has one of the strongest vocal chords in any rock front man.... it is his complete disregard for the vocal phrasing of the song melodies...... he literally improves the whole show.... imagine if Billy took the same liberties with his guitar chords.... the songs would be unintelligible....
@bloodnchocolate3 жыл бұрын
@@jimmybamslam Yeah, and I think it's mostly due to very poor breath control, which is why I was surprised he did so well on the show I linked to. Much more respect for the songs as recorded rather than trying to vamp it out due to poor technique. He seems to have done his homework, plus he's moving a lot too!
@KyOte135 ай бұрын
Having consistency in that range, for a baritone voice like his… takes an absolute TON of work. They are literally capturing lightning in a bottle in the studio with his vocals. Any singer will tell you that singing his stuff is difficult. It’s not just the notes, but the weight of his tone that makes it so good. He is an incredible writer, always wrote not just amazing lyrics, but the fucking HOOKS are GREAT. “ Fire Woman” is one of the most hard hitting, catchy choruses ever written. The guy is next level in every way.. but when it came to live performance, I think he just sacrificed vocal training for the sake of the performance. He shoulda got with a coach and figured that shit out… plus, everyone knows he likes to party. To me, he will always be one of the 🐐’s.
