@@michaeldamato9466 Actually it was mostly because it was released on the soundtrack to a pretty crappy half-animated movie called Cool World in 1992. Oddly enough that soundtrack was pretty killer, but luckily The Cult included it (the full 6:55 version) on their 'Pure Cult: The Singles 1984-1995' in 2000.

This was on the Cool World movie soundtrack. They've chopped the wicked multi guitar solo outro that goes for almost three minutes. On the fade out the drums kick in at a slower tempo and that sleazy fuzz bass kicks in. Billy proceeds to go to psychedelic town. I use to crank this constantly in my car..
@DarrenK-dt7sx8 ай бұрын
They performed The Witch when I saw them at the Centennial Concert Hall (Winnipeg) in 2008. Frigging great song! Hell, the whole set was epic! The crowd got right into the show, and Ian had all of us singing along to Sweet Soul Sister. I fondly remember being partially deaf for 3 days afterward.

The original version with Billy jamming over fuzz bass for about three minutes is killer! Cool World in the bargain bin, back in the 90s brought me to this unexpected psychedelic ripper. Unfortunately, they never followed this with an album in this style but that would have been a tough one to pull off..
@mysticwolf755 ай бұрын
I know. I would have loved to hear a whole album in this style, although there were 1 or 2 songs from their self titled album that came sort of close.

I think I'd prefer to listen to Ian sing (All Glory/Today)...When they appeared on the "The Old Grey Whistle Test" they showcased Love Removal Machine for the new album...The opening guitar by Billy Duffy must've been done under record company pressure "Rick Rubin" or he'd lost his marble's. It was a total rip off of "Start Me Up" by the Rolling Stones." I accept that it was a change in direction, but it was a defining moment for me,....Ian & Billy that had produced such innovative material previously.
