I have a similar query: We see in multiple episodes that there are plate people. How do they eat food? On non-sentient plates? On dead plate people? Wouldn’t that be like me eating my dinner on a corpse? I- just- how do they do it??

While non-sentient can be dead people, rocks can also be non-sentient, meaning that if you would categorize any object and any matter as dead people (Which makes sense because well, Porcelain is alive in the Cuphead universe but it doesn't make sense because matter and atoms aren't dead people presumably.), but we need to differ from non-sentient that are dead people and non-sentient that are not sentient, never been sentient, and is not going to be sentient. Non-sentient that are dead people are buried from one of the episodes and their soul roams like a ghost and is pretty much visible from their control, and the corpses **could** rot too. While non-sentient matter, they're non-sentient, not a corpse, and never lived. As such, the plate people that is eating with plates knows that it is not a corpse and never lived. Can we also mention that object scale is larger? I mean, we have humanoid creatures such as Brineybeard (Not including Cala Maria because she is hugeee) and the sizes of the Cup Bros next to them takes about close to 10% of Brineybeard's height, while a Cup and a Mug in real life takes about 75% of our hands if we were to hold it, and real-life Cups, Mugs, and Chalice don't have feets! My point is that, if Brineybeard was a standard human height in their universe, living sentient objects are larger and so, they could differ between what is a corpse and what is a non-sentient object (Assuming that the corpse doesn't shrink when it dies, if it does than this whole discussion is dark.)
