I love how robert always stands like two feet away from the mic when they're doing playback lol
@Ili_xx193310 ай бұрын
I love this one. Seeing them pretend to play with loose and messed up strings, Simon playing guitar and Robert playing bass, all so young and rebel.

Incredibly atmospheric track, back then and still remains so today! Big Cure fan,

saw this when it was aired on tv in 1980 and that was the real start of this dark new wave for me no matter whether it was synced or not,it didn't matter….

Me too!! I was watching this video and the guitars didn't match up. I was like...Bass and Guitar totally off? Hmm? Anyway I don't care, I love this band, love this song and they look good on tv and that's what counts for me anyway. Still bad ass. Funny at the same time. Glad I wasn't the only one that noticed. lol Love this Damn song! : )

I didnt know about The Cure until the nineties. Rode around listening to The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, Depeche Mode, The Church, and a lot of similar bands in my old car with my friends that introduced me to eighties music.

All great bands. I got to know them in the eighties through some friends but grew to love them in the nineties.

For anyone interested, that guitar Simon Gallup is playing here is a Yamaha SF700 Super Fighter in Cherry Red, and was basically Yamaha's version of the Gibson L6S.

Graduated ‘84. I loved the Cure back then, and still love that old Cure. Under my YB pic I quoted 3 Imaginary Boys. Pretty messed up fam and time. Moved away from Boston, ended up dragging a Denver boy to see the Cure in his “city” I was blown away that they would come to Denver and shocked that there were punks living there (only time I ever saw them in the nearly 5 years that I lived in Colorado)

It looks really silly and that wry smile on Robert says it all; may as well enjoy it. There is another version of this song and I'm going to find it and leave this one to do whatever it is.

Wonder if Smith and Gallup swapping instruments is some sort of protest at having to mime. The strings are ridiculously slack and no effort is made to play the right notes.

I noticed that too right away then I was like...Fuck it. All bands back in the day did it, they kick ass, and they are good. I love them no matter what. Good shit. You should check out the video from Public Image Ltd on American Bandstand. Funny as shit as far as lip synching and playing live fake. Funny. lol
