Gallup's an utter monster on bass. He deserves far more recognition than he gets, Peter Hook seems to get all the accolades and it's not fair. Hook is an icon, yes, but he's not the only one with astonishing skills.

It's quite remarkable how, after 40+ years, they continue to play live, still this talented, and as consistent as they've always been. I've seen every record release tour since The Kissing Tour, plus a few non-release tours like Curiosa, and Cure Tour 2016. They've never had a bad performance in any of those I've seen. I saw the Wish Tour four times between the two MA and two NY gigs, and just as consistent, as always. They deserve every accomplishment they've already achieved, or may receive going forward. The Cure will always be one of the greatest bands that ever formed in my opinion, and they've clearly influenced multiple generations of bands, and continue to do so even to this day. I am so thankful and grateful that they've been such a big part of my life for so long. So much respect for all of the people involved through so many decades.

I'm humbled at your dedication. They're my favourite band... and yet... I've never seen them live. I can sing along to every song, including Rob's non-words! Thank you for your post Jarret.

I hope that you'll get a chance to see them live. Word is they have a new record in the works. If that's the case, they will most likely do a supporting tour. Highly recommend that you get tickets and go. You won't be disappointed. They are a loud, large, and amazingly tight live band. Just listen to any good quality live recording, and it's that x100. I hope that you (and anyone else who hasn't seen them live but hopes to) will get the chance to experience them at least once before they eventually stop. I hope to see them again myself.

@@JarretLaMark I've heard that the new album will be similar to Pornography but with a little less unrelenting darkness. I will, I promise see them live. Maybe see you later this year or 2020. Thank you again. I'm inspired.

Definitely one of my all-time favorite songs. Grand Duchy (The Pixies' Frank Black and wife Violet Clark) did a great cover version.

Of course he's not victor wooten he plays very simple, but he never just plays the tonic notes, he always bring another harmonic, another history to the cure songs, without gallup there wouldnt be cure music

Agree totally, Gallup is integral to The Cure sound, like Peter Hook in JD/New Order. Both influential bassists too.
