This song is one of the reasons I have always been a Cure fan and why the Top is one of my favorite albums of all time. Robert Smith has a very sexy voice and his guitar playing is fucking awesome!

I've been a long time cure fan but this album as always fell flat with me (muddy production) but recently I've come to realise that it's f##king brilliant, dark tripping music at it's best
@joelashadali2 жыл бұрын
I agree completely agree. I've been a fan since 1980. Took a very long time to resonant with me also. The remaster fixes a lot of that muddied. Today happens to be the anniversary of The Caterpillars release. Only single released off this lp.
@vegetablehead Жыл бұрын
robert was stretched waaay thin at this time. definitely not his most melodic musical phase. while the heavy hitters were wrapping up their musical masterpieces (echo/ocean rain, u2/unforgettable fire, smiths/meat is murder)...1984 was a time for him to 'let go'. but then only a short time later, he created his own masterpiece in head on the door. just gave this song a listen and it had my feet tapping. i'll hit some others on the album, but as you both said, the initial reaction to the music listener can fall below the expectation. but not to say it disappoints. [to be fair, meat is murder official release was 85, and i know i left out some other heavy hitters...but depeche mode's some great reward released in 1984 was not their masterpiece imo.] rem's reckoning is an absolute fantastic release. as i said. 1984 was a very good year for music. can we add this album to the list?

Definitely a grower, same here ... I just didn´t hate it too much cause ´Japanese Whispers` had already cunted me out , so , by the time they dropped this I was already twerking to all that hallucinopop you hear in `japanese whispers` ( minus ´Lament` which I´ve always thought was some leftover song they had written post ´Pornography` before disbanding .
