He is just such a wonderful human being, I've heard a lot of people say things like "When I discovered Bowie I knew there were other people like me" yeah I agree with that but I discovered The Cure many years before I really discovered and understood who and what Bowie was because for me, it was Robert Smith, when I discovered the Cure & subsequently Robert Smith, I knew there were other people like me out there. I copied his hair, i copied his makeup, id write down what he wore in videos and copy his fashion when my Mom took me clothes shopping once per year. To this day I have Cure albums laying around, Cure t-shirts with album covers on them, when people know what they are looking at and let you know, chances are you've found a really decent person to speak to. Lots of people wint agree but I even rate the Banshees album Hyaena as one of their best because I think you can hear Robert's contribution. I just still love them nearly 4 decades after discovering them, Robert is the best. I'd love for the Banshee's circa 1984 to regroup and do another album, Hyaena 2.0, i love Siouxsie too. Mantaray was brilliant but i wanted more albums

How fabulous that there are still plenty of our own children who appreciate what we listened to in the 70’s and 80’s. Check out katie meluahs version....i dont usually care for cover songs but she has a way of expressing the lyrics in a very melancholy way that in my opinion transforms the pre-existing style and attitude of the song into a very romantic and almost sad love song that for reasons unknown seems to relate to each of us somehow....one of a kind lyrics which found themselves delightfully descriptive of their singer...the semi-sad make up, the hair and the clothes he wore and the song seemed to at the time come together in a magical way that one may perhaps experience after reading a romance novel....outstanding

It's interesting to listen to his discussion of how the band or their lives are changing. We're all becoming more lonely - it's not that we're trading the group for friends. We just don't have any friends. But we can do what we want now. What a trade off for the artist

But I don't blame him, he isn't bashing America he is just saying that due to the size and amount of people going to the shows he has a hard time connecting to the audience. He likes to connect and that's impossible in massive shows with tons of people. Plus he doesn't really like doing festivals where there are a lot of other bands. That means that many people there aren't there to see the cure.

@karenhoward29833 жыл бұрын
He said that again ( wouldn't come to America again) just before covid became pandemic. & that he loves to go to Japan, & how he wants to go back to Australia & other Countries again. He hates flying though & going to the USA by Boat (cruise ship liner) takes a very long trip there & back bc of stops.He books all of their trips& does pretty much every thing else, hotel bookings, etc.for the group members. He was very scared the 1st time he came to the USA bc he was intimidated by how big it was with all the States & got used to it over time, but said they were loved in France & far away Countries w/other languages like Switzerland, Germany, etc. that they were well received there. I'm thinking "How the heck did they ever understand him w/an english accent & did they all learn to speak english too" ? We Americans love him a lot too, & I was so disappiinted.bc I can't travel far being on SSI, but if you are willing or able to travel to England, you may be able to see him walking to a store or somewhere local near his house bc he isn't fancy, doesn't drive & lives in a flat & usually doesn't get up until 12 noon or later. He is more nocturnal or was, back in the day. He needs some daylight to do some things, but they are very plain & ordinary people & don't act rich or put on airs, & he can't stand pompousness or the aristocracy (the Queen), & have you seen his guitar that says "Citizens Not Subjects"? He doesn't run out & buy all kinds of materials, but he does love a new guitar now & then. Wears the same clothes yr. after yr. & the same exact black shirts & had a bunch made all at once- (hence the big oversized black shirts) he wears for Concerts For A While Now, & usually wrinkled. Lol. I never thought I could love a guy who buttons up so tightly up to his neck & wears wrinkled clothes. But it just works on him bc of the rest of the pkg. He really is just a beautiful person inside & out. Mary is shy, he says & I have often wondered if she cooks or he does or if they order out a lot bc I never heard mention of any maids or cooks at their house either, but he did say he & the guys eat corn flakes w/ jalapenos or green chilies & cheese. Wacky combo, but to each his own. He likes spicy foods.God Bless Him.😉
