The opposite of fear is love. The god of fear is not the true god if you suppose there is a god. The use of the word god here is not in the sense of deity. He's using the word figuretively. More aptly a connotative sense when you keep it in CONTEXT of the lyrics. I just saw them perform a full set of 38 songs in Hawaii 7/30/13 at Blaisdell. They were brilliant!

Yes, it is the "B-Side" from both singles from the self-titled 2004 album. Both singles "Taking Off," & "Alt.End" were released at the same time and feature the same b-sides (Why Can't I Be Me / Your God Is Fear.)

This is a B-side because it's basically a demo for Where the Birds Always Sing. The music is basically the same. I prefer Birds because it's not so direct. This strikes of sophomoric angst, rather than the usual deep, esoteric style that makes the Cure unique and appealing.
